MSFS store versions here too but DLSS Swapper works like a charm.

Yeah it sounds like the piece I was missing. No unprotected DLLs to replace so was missing the tool to do it for me. I’m on a trip now but home tomorrow nights, will give it a spin.

Just updated to SU14, so to answer my own question:
nvngx_dlssg.dll (which I believe is the frame generation file) has gone to 3.5.10.0. (latest?)
My nvngx_dlss.dll remains at 2.4.12.0 (not updated?)

Same here.

Oh, that's weird then!

Pico Neo3 Link VR - Windows 11 64bit, Gigabyte Z590 Aorus Elite Mobo, i7-10700KF CPU, Gigabyte RX 9070 XT OC 16gb (AMD GPU), 32gig Corsair 3600mhz RAM, SSD x2 + M.2 SSD 1tb x1

Saitek X45 HOTAS - Saitek Pro Rudder Pedals - Logitech Flight Yoke - Homemade 3 Button & 8-directional Joystick Box, SNES Controller (used as a Button Box - Additional USB Numpad (used as a Button Box)

I find I only benefit with the dlss updated, and not the dlssg.

I had to revert my dlssg back to 1.0.1, with the dlss at 3.5.1 and the sim runs a lot smoother. When both got updated with SU14 I had worse performance.

You mean you downgraded dlssg from 3.5.1 (the one SU14 installed) to 1.0.1???

Yep. I had the best performance experience during the beta when I updated the dlss only to 3.5.1 and didn’t touch the dlssg.

twice I noticed the downgrade

- first was when another SU14 beta came and downgraded the dlss back to 2.4.1(?) or whatever version it was originally

- second was this time with SU14 final, when both dlss and dlssg got upgraded together to 3.5.1

seems like my system prefers dlss 3.5.1 and the original dlssg 1.0.1 combo

SU14 didn't upgrade dlss here (it's still 2.4.12.0), it upgraded dlssg to 3.5.10.0 though.

Ah, fair point. So the dlss 3.5.1 was what I had done previously, and that’s how I ended up with both at 3.5.1

Well....

After SU14 I kind of had this growing feeling things weren't as fluid as they used to be. Small, intermittent hesitations when quickly panning among other things. I was kind of sure I hadn't had this before. I still got great performance and visuals, but I felt something was off. I've done lots of flights out of ESNU (one of my hubs in NeoFly) to ESMS, ENBO and EFIV. I stumbled upon the Youtube-clip that spawned this thread (finding said thread after the fact) and thought it would be worth the five minutes it would take to check versions of named DLLs and update if needed. I've done that now and doing the inaugural from ESNU to ESMS.

Now, take this from the guy that is WAY more prone to nocebo as opposed to placebo. I, for example, NEVER go to the latest GPU driver if the one I have functions good and the shiny new one doesn't in any way state specific improvements for MSFS.

There is a tangible improvement for me after updating the DLLs from 2 point-something to 3 point-whatever-the most-recent are. No hesitation when panning for example. MSFS feels kind of like when I'd built the current rig (in my sig) a number of months ago. There is no credible explanation to this what so ever besides the change I did with the DLLs.

Yep. It's a year-plus of AI development, there's no way it couldn't improve your sim experience. Congrats and enjoy it.

Title is self-explanatory. This has helped a ton of people. Note: do NOT try getting into your WindowsApps folder (it’s locked for a reason), you can mess up your sim or the PC. The video shows the location of the file; some commenters had trouble finding it and there are various solutions. This is not clickbait, it has worked for a ton of people. Feel free to cross-post to the official forum, I’m not a member over there.

Thank you. This helped me with a 3060 ti, 32 GB RAM, Win10, Premium Deluxe on Steam. MSFS wasn't quite what it was after SU14 but after replacing the file, the MSFS was smoother and more realistic flying in VR and Quest 3 hooked up to the PC using Oculus Link and a USB 3 cable.

Hardware: i7-8700k, GTX 1070-ti, 32GB ram, NVMe/SSD drives with lots of free space.
Software: latest Windows 10 Pro, P3Dv4.5+, FSX Steam, and lots of addons (100+ mostly Orbx stuff).

Despite deep scepticism I thought I might as well try this and … under same conditions at EGLL I have seen ~32fps instead of ~27fps before being doubled by frame generation with a 4090.

Worthwhile imo.

This worth it if you're mainthread limited?

Well as far as I know, the extra frames are generated exclusively by the GPU without putting any more extra load on the CPU (main thread), so yes.

The problem is, if the main thread is severely overloaded, you may still get hitching.
The GPU can only do so much guessing, as it needs data every other frame to fill in the gaps.  So if your CPU main thread limits you to say 12 FPS, you will only get 24 FPS overall and it may seem to stutter a bit.
There is nothing more that frame generation can help with at that point.

Overall though, this has got to be worth having.
