Tried this month or so ago using FG with TAA at 105% using 4090, made no difference whatsoever

I think you need to be using dlss, Ian

That said, I usually lock to 40 fps during normal use so I've only done a small amount of testing unlocked.

I think the major update in the latest DLSS versions was improvements to ray tracing, which is not a MSFS thing.

At the moment!

Who knows what future updates to 2020 or 2024 might find useful?

EDIT: I love the new 3.5 DLSS Ray Tracing (Ray reconstruction) in Cyberpunk, for instance

Been doing it for the last six months or so. Can't say I've noticed a difference but it can't hurt either.

It actually can. DLSS .dll upgrades are not a 'linear' upgrade path of continual improvements, there's multiple versions that each have their strength and drawbacks, slightly modified, improved and tweaked each release. So in some games, you might just end up getting more blur, trails or ghosting if you use a 'wrong' version for a given title. So you can actually make your visual experience slightly worse using a newer .dll.

And if that happened I would revert to the backup. Simple. But, as I say, no discernible difference here.

Which is why I compare it to the decision to update (for instance) your Nvidia drivers. Results may vary.

You can use frame generation with TAA and both DLSS and Frame generation are considered part of DLSS so no, not necessarily a red flag.....

No sorry, don't mix things up please.

This youtuber has a 3080 Ti (without FG) and clearly says that the framerate increase from about 30 to 40-42 fps is obtained both with DLSS/DLAA and TAA, with the PMDG 737 in Miami airport where he departs from several times a week (so he knows very well the performance of his PC there).

No frame generation is involved with the 3080 Ti (only 4000 series cards have it), and he also explicitly shows and declares that the library he overwrites is nvngx_dlss.dll, the one without FG support.

Maybe he had some underlying issues that were resolved with a Windows update, maybe the traffic at KMIA was lighter the day he tested the DLL change. I am not saying he's in bad faith and just wanted to reap likes and views with a hyperbolic title like "+30% FPS".

I am not judging him here, just discerning between feelings and facts that can be verified and reproduced.

Hi Folks,

I am struggling a little bit, because there is no msfs folder in my "XboxGames" folder. I am on MSFS Store version.

Can anyone help this dummy where to find the files to be replaced?

Thanks in advance.

This only has an effect if NVIDIA DLSS is selected in settings?

Yes

Would be handy if the OP had mentioned this in the first post.

The file is called dlss.dll

it's pretty obvious it's for DLSS

Ghosting is a thing but if you use TAA, that DLL is completely neglected. The author of the video says otherwise and that is the first red flag. Also, he doesn't show the "before", only the "after". Moreover he shows a CPU limited scenario (737 @ KMIA) as evidenced by his frame counter (limited by mainthread). How would the DLSS DLL make any difference in such a scenario?

In DLSS or TAA? Have you recorded before and after in the same conditions or just have an "impression"?

If the effect is true, it must be reproducible.

Not interested in arguing. Do whatever you want.

Nope and nope. I said clearly in the first post, and I’ll say it again: it has helped some people significantly, some a little bit, and some none at all. For the people it has helped a lot, I couldn’t be happier. For someone like you just wanting to argue, I’m simply not interested. People are free to do as they wish. I gain nothing from sharing this.
