iniBuilds A300-600 - Airliner Development Update 3

Featured Replies

V1 has started his stream now: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aXqHKre15aA

His comments so far:
- "sounds 11 out of 10!", "that engine lightoff sound is absolutely amazing", "there's realism for you" in terms of the engine sounds from the interior
- "man, this taxis so well on single engine"
- "a lot of sim planes get it wrong where a lot of thrust is needed to taxi properly, this is taxiing as expected just with idle thrust"
- "absolutely love the textures on this ... feels like there's more meat on them than the a310 ... absolutely awesome"
- "I mean, this is just epic ... i'm at a loss for words, too awesome" (about the engine sounds on take-off)
- "hand flies amazingly"
- "I like the wing flex and it's subtleties, don't know what they did to the wings but it's better than a310 now"
- "aircraft maintenance is substantial for an airliner, usually you see this level of maintenance and wear/tear options only for GA sim aircraft"

- "the detail of maintenance.. I love it, it just adds to the immersion"

ini have also quickly fixed the secondary FMS bug V1 experienced in the beginning: "Good news we fixed the sec fpl bug from V1"

Also I guess IRL A310 VNAV is likely different from the A300?

Probably considering the size difference.

LondonController is live, and he opened saying the aircraft feels very different from the A310.

It looks good in the video, I must say!

I wonder if any of these improvements will find their way into the A310 at some point?

The A310 was effectively work for hire by ini, so whether it gets any work like this is very much down to whether MS wants to pay ini to do it.

IIRC the A310 was announced and started as a payware project, Microsoft bought it out sometime later after the announcement. Not sure how their plans for it changed after that.

Unrelated, but I also noticed there was also a difference between the A310 PR and the A320Neo PR. All of the A310 PR was handled by ini, they were making blog posts and info releases on it, but the A320N they were almost completely radio silent, with just a few comments here and there on their Discord before it hit beta.

It's an plane bundled up in MSFS2020, which VERY strongly suggests it's not ini's plane any more - in which case, ini's plans for the base plane don't really matter any more and there appear limited opportunities for funding any further work other that it being paid for directly by MS or by ini being allowed to sell a payware extension for it (and so far there's no sign of the latter)

So there is not landing performance calculator? Kind odd, no?

Indeed, especially since it‘s usually the „easier“ calculator of the both. Didn‘t even the A310 have one?

For transparency: I'm a community mentor at the BATC discord. However, I do not get paid for it in any way.

So I watched 737NG‘s stream and for that price I am totally gonna buy it (hopefully tomorrow?) and fly a good amount of freight ops out of it, at least until the 77F and 74F are there.

Just looking at the movement of the flight director you can already see that plane is 100x more polished than the A310 was and we now know for certain that was on Microsoft.
In the stream was absolutely nothing negative about it, it was top notch from sounds over visuals over systems up to the EFB. Now I find the (real) A300 ugly and the (real) cockpit like a Frankenstein experiment gone bad (mixing up 50% Airbus and 50% Boeing), but for such a study level aircraft I can get used to it, especially when it‘s so artfully textured in the sim.
Now if they get the A350 to anything close to that level it will be records sale in flight sim history.

ini coded it, not Microsoft.

Microsoft payed for it. That means the release schedule was not in the hands of iniBuilds nor what the feature polish would be.

Watched stream looks great but not gonna buy it had my fun in A310 will save monies for 77W.
