Real Turb v2

Featured Replies

I really enjoy this app and it has added a lot of realism in my sim.  Sometimes its hit and miss but occasionally it surprises me.  For example this summer I flew into Las Vegas several times when it was real hot.  I should be experiencing some pretty hardcore thermals making it a bumpy ride but it was silky smooth.  Yet last week I flew into Jackson Hole Wyoming and the turbulence was so incredible I almost had to abort my approach.  I thought I was going to break the wings off the E175 and it was very difficult to control.

I use Active Sky at the same time as they seem to work together but I imagine in rare situations they may cancel one another out or double the intensity.

Sometimes I feel like I live in an alternate universe.  I fly strictly GA, no big stuff and have sim turbulence set at Realistic.  At those settings and with GA aircraft, I get kicked around plenty and appropriately.  Over mountain ridges, on landing with heavy wind and everything in between.  I see several who've bought the program who say they have sim turbulence set to low and medium?

Did a landing with heavy crosswind at Pagosa Springs, CO (mountain airport) and it was all I could do to keep control between the bumps and xwind.  What am I doing right?!  🙂

You've answered your own point. MSFS' own turbulence setting is problematic with certain airliners that use their own flight modelling.

RealTurb is supposed to replace some of the missing active air movement for heavy metal flyers who have had to set turbulence to low.

Thanks.  I didn't realize that some airliners were requiring turbulence to be dialed back, hence my confusion.

  • 3 weeks later...

Update... been using RealTurb V2 for a couple of weeks ... overall, impressed ... only issue, doesn't auto-run when MSFS loads ... RealTurb V2 is present in exe.xml.

It looks like Webroot AV is interfering ... tried a few things but only way is to disable AV or start RetalTurb manually ... anyone got any other suggestions please?

What settings do you use for GA in MFS 2024 in the sim and in realturb?

What settings do you use to combine RealTurb with ASFS (ActiveSky)?

I usually fly with A320s and 737s.

What you should not be installing is external AV programs. The one that is build into Windows is more than sufficient and external ones are just prone to give out false positives.

While this may be a false positive your advice is technically inaccurate.

I have ESET NOD32 installed on top of Windows security and they work fine together.

FYI Virustotal is an online website and has a well earned reputation from picking up unwanted bundled Trojans

No it is not. The age of necessary external AV programs ended about 10 years ago.

ABSOLUTELY! Sometimes it seems like people are still stuck 10 years in the past. Or we can call it paranoia. ))

As for RealTurb. Different airplanes require different settings, and these settings are not always logical. For Fenix Airbus I use 100/70 pitch/roll and even more than 100% for cloud turbulence. Much heavier FBW A380 requires not more than 50% or it's unstable especially at turns. The default MSFS turbulence is always at LOW.
