December 19, 20232 yr Does anyone use Real Turb v2? If so, is it an improvement for turbulence in the sim or is it a scam? December 19, 20232 yr Can we stop calling products "scams" unless they actually are, please? From the product description: Quote You can also try the demo version of "RealTurb CAT Areas Global for MSFS v2", before purchase, which offers a fully functional product for 10 days after installation. Click here to download the demo version installer. Update Offer: If you previously purchased M. A. REALTURB - REALTURB CAT AREAS GLOBAL FOR MSFS at simMarket, you are entitled for a free upgrade A) A demo and a free update indicate it's clearly not a scam; B) The v1 of this was reasonable until it stopped working after a SU dropped. Given how turbulence isn't common in the sim at high flight levels, some excitement from CAT is welcome; and, C) I will try this tomorrow (late for me here). I just meant to say does it work as advertised in the sim. I rarely see turbulence in the sim unless I turn up the setting then I find that it isn’t realistic Intel Core i7 12700K (5.0GHz Max Boost Clock) 12-Core CPU 32GB G.Skill Performance DDR4 SDRAM 3600MHz Graphics Processor:12GB Nvidia GeForce RTX 3080 Ti, GDDR6x System 2TB Western Digital, NVMe M.2 Solid State Drive
December 20, 20232 yr Good find. Ill try it tomorrow as well. I cant say I have noticed much of a difference in V1 so Im looking forward to this. Its nice that its free for those who already purchased before
December 20, 20232 yr Just a friendly reminder it is winter in the upper regions of the globe. If you want turbulence go for warmer regions in the sim. Also sun isn't up as long to heat up the ground this time of year.

You're not wrong, but the jetstream drops quite a bit further south in the winter time, and also picks up speed. In the US, it gets pretty bumpy over the rockies, especially when it comes to mountain wave. So, when you're in the flight levels, you can expect a fair bit of CAT in the winter time. Where it's warmer yes, you get turbulence from thermal heating and lower pressures associated with that. I've been using this tool for awhile, and quite like it. Winter time has even more turbulence in the real world, especially with high winds, jetstream turbulence, mountain wave etc. Clear air turbulence is much more common in the winter. Convective low altitude turbulence also still does occur in the winter. Really? not to mention the wind shifts in ms2020 and their childish approach when not allowing activesky to develop a weather app for the sim. you cant blame developers I guess for capitalising on a consumer base that buys any of tat and then refuses to moan about it, and a sim where the weather changes will ruin a flight in 30 seconds. I have not really had bad experiences with real weather. Occasionally, maybe, but in the main, I like the weather model. It can be improved for sure, especially the number of cloud variations, but I'm happy to wait until 2024. But applying silly turbulence enhancements, BY REGION, is just ridiculous. December 20, 20232 yr Just trying to look out for fellow simmers and remind them of the season they are currently in. I haven't looked at the program but if I remember right just this last summer I thought people were raising heck about turbulence and an option was developed to tone it down.

December 20, 20232 yr Author I didn't mean to open a can of worms here. I was just wondering if this add on puts turbulence in the sim where it should be. For example, on my weather charts, I can change it to see if there is turbulence on my route. If this app adds turbulence where it is forecasted in real life, I think it might be worth it to a degree. If it just adds turbulence in random places just to show your plane shaking, then I don't think it would be worth it.
