December 28, 20232 yr As a follow up to my post above last night I flew into LAS in the Leonardo MD-80 and on approach into LAS I hit some pretty realistic turbulence. West of the airport over the mountains I hit some light to moderate turbulence but it settled down once past the mountains. Over the city and just south of the airport it was smooth sailing but as I flew east it started getting choppy again. As I turned over Lake Mead lining up for runway 25 I was getting bounced around pretty good. It did smooth out again once over the city other than a few minor bumps on short final. Definitely not the generic type of turbulence! It was night time during my flight so it will be interesting to see how LAS is during the summer with all the thermals going on? Overall I thought it definitely added a sense of realism to the sim. Currently my default turbulence scalar is set on Medium I think but I will shut if off next flight at let Real Turb v2 do all the work. At this point I am not sure what is doing what in the turbulence department so with the default set to off I will have better idea.

If I read the product manual correctly it does not use real world data but some sort of algorithm based on MSFS depicted weather. Probably some sort of randomize programing thrown in just to change it up so it does not become repetitive. Having something that uses real world turbulence forecasting would be the ultimate but I am not so sure how accessible such detailed data would be? Probably not easily done for a product that cost about the same as a McDonald's meal.

I can't say for entire world but here in US we can access all aviation weather reports for free https://aviationweather.gov/ https://aviationweather.gov/gfa/#turb Life time flight sim enthusiast, current airplane owner 172P (past C182F). No. It uses the wind in the sim and creates turbulence when it varies too much. For transparency: I'm a community mentor at the BATC discord. However, I do not get paid for it in any way.
January 2, 20242 yr Hi, just installed it, but once in a while I hear a noise similar to a 737 trim wheel (I use the Fenix 320). I found out it is one of the files RT_Turb_HI.wav or RT_Turb_NORM.wav, but what's the sense of that sound? Not realistic at all. Can I disable them? James Goggi

Quick and dirty way is to add a suffix such as .Old to the filename. Alternatively, find the layout.json file (make a copy of this original file first) and remove the lines that link the program to these two sound files. Find the ini file and change the sounds values to 0. I believe they are currently set at 1. You can also open up your master volume and just turn it down and it will remain there. You probably can just delete the wav files as well but I would try that as a last resort. It would be nice if the dev just removed those sounds altogether.
January 3, 20242 yr At what position should I set in sim turbulence - low, medium or realistic when using the Real Turb? In the manual there are no any words about this
January 3, 20242 yr I think this mod works very well now. All it does is simply amplify the wind effects and the ground effects. There is no further analysis of weather or anything else. You just set the level of wind and ground effect in the .ini file and fly. I personally prefer more ground effect and less wind effect. I really like the choppy feel on approach and landing, - which, in my opinion, has been missing in MSFS so far. I fly tubeliners only.

First of all, how do you know it was wind shifts and not, say, pitot icing? Secondly, you don’t think wind shifts can disconnect an autopilot? I can assure you they absolutely can.
