While that may be your opinion I challenge your statement with four PMDG 737s in service, each as robust and feature filled as the ones modeled for P3d. Add to it the Fenix a320 and a myriad of default aircraft now with more features and advanced avionics than in any previous sim, the Longitude and the 787 and 747 come quickly to mind. This ain’t yer grandfathers MSFS and to declare it as only for VFR and “Eye Candy” can be viewed as quite short sighted, bordering on disingenuous. My Opinion only but an opinion of someone who owns both MSFS 2020 AND P3D Ver 2.0, 3.0, 4.0, 5.0, and now 6.0 -B Edited April 25, 20242 yr by btacon

I certainly can accept your opinion. I'm sure others do too. I just see it differently for me.

Are there really any enhancements over the NGXu other then maybe sharper visuals? I use the NGXu more than any other aircraft in my very diverse hanger. I bought the 737NG-700 for MSFS when it first came out and really didn't see any reason to repurchase these PMDG aircraft for the third time. I'm retired and they are quite (to me) expensive. Have they really added anything else? Vic green

You state you have the 700 for MSFS already and if you are asking if there is advantage to the other three (600,800,900) I would say no. They are all functionally identical with Features and Functions so if that is your question I would say no reason other than a desire to possess more 😎. -B

I'm still using V5.4 very successfully and it's very compatible with just about everything. Is V6 a product still developing, or is it something that still has compatibility issues? I bought it when it first came out but it's residing in "suspended animation" on my X drive. I do want to activate it at some time in the future IF it becomes an improvement over 5.4. I don't seem to see that happening from what I'm reading (not reading) on the forums. I truly believe it should not have been released unless it was more of a threat to MSFS. Maybe V7 will be that...I'm just not sure. Stan When Lockheed Martin purchased FSX I was satisfied that they would take P3D to the maximum! Now, I feel completely 'let down' that they have appeared to have given up! Dave Taylor

Now, I feel completely 'let down' that they have appeared to have given up! I think they achieved that with v5.4. The huge improvements in v4 onwards especially was more than we could have hoped for. The number of new features / improvements in v6 was never enough to convince me to buy it even if developers had stayed on board. I don’t think there’ll be a v7. Whatever they’re working on now won’t be P3D. Something very different maybe involving streaming. Ray (Cheshire, England). August 23, 20241 yr Completely off the table, a friend's wife's friend's mom, mom's friend and their car guy type conversation that I heard. LM is probably taking different approach to their image in front of the public hence the lack of development that we see of Prepar3d for the "education" market. I am sure their clients have something else when buying their big-ticket items. Also, events like this kinda puts them in public's eye too much (older article Is the SR-72 Darkstar in Top Gun: Maverick Real? Here Are Clues (popularmechanics.com) ) v5.4 was great. v6 was used for 1 day. Boat has left P3D. I am not even wasting time configuring this sim anymore. Maybe there will be nostalgic day, where I install Orbx in P3Dv5.4 and fly some big heavies like FSLabs Airbus but other than that - moved on completely. P3D was in between sim to what we have in MSFS2020 today. They brought us 64bit goodness with v4 (that release will always be special) and pushed some FSX addons to the max and I am forever grateful to them for it. August 24, 20241 yr Well, the topic is about asking what's the verdict about P3Dv6. And the verdict seems to be that many simers preferred to go or stay with other sims instead of going to P3Dv6. Other sims include MSFS, but also XPlane 12 aaaand.... P3Dv5 (and v4 too!). Nothing off-topic, really. Edited August 24, 20241 yr by Daube

August 26, 20241 yr All the simulators are the best they've ever been. All are genuinely good. I just can't understand folks who feel the need to denigrate other simulators in some benighted effort to promote their favored sim. IOW, Prepar3D is a great sim. Just focus on that, especially if "other simulators don't belong here." Edited August 26, 20241 yr by Ray Proudfoot Hidden quoted post removed
