April 4, 20242 yr GA flyer here. After decades of TrackIR, I put it in the tray for a Tobii that I love at every flight. Will have a look at this Beam-something because competition is good. I have no performance issues at all with my 1080/30 webcam. I'm using FG with my FPS locked at 60 in Riva Tuner and head tracking is really smooth and responsive. If I turn off FG, my frame rates average about 45. At that frame rate headtracking isn't nearly as smooth. Anyone seeing this little glitch - if I hit the stop button in OpenTrack to change something in Settings, when I hit start to resume head tracking nothing happens. To restore head tracking I have to close and restart OpenTrack. April 4, 20242 yr Issue is not performance. My FPS is the same ( 100-120 fps). I have a 7950x3d, and beam eye tracker is on CCD1. So that is ok. My issue is the ever so small latency response when I turn my head vs trackir. April 4, 20242 yr If anyone using eye tracking happens to wear glasses I'd be interested to know how the eye glasses impact eye tracking. Thanks, Al
April 4, 20242 yr I wear glasses all the time when simming and I've found no problem with eye tracking. April 4, 20242 yr I tried this earlier and its a very good piece of kit. I would defo recommend even though my experience was a bit laggy and choppy, that's on me because my webcam is from the 1930s. April 4, 20242 yr So with the 4k webcam it was incredibly responsive. I have actually disabled all of the eye tracking for now and limited it to head tracking. Now it is smooth as could be with no jumping or unexpected movements. I guess I move my eyes a lot as it was sort of all over the place. Limiting it to head movements only works much better for me. For the cost of the webcam and the SW it really is pretty slick. This gives me that little bit of visual movement I need especially on landing to glance at the gauges and focus out the window... April 4, 20242 yr Being a diehard VR user Eye Tracking has rarely intrigued me, I've always thought the technology and usage behind it is quite cool but there's been no appeal whilst I've been using the "virtual" way of racing/flying. Well thanks to a raging hangover & the last thing I want to do is fly in VR (!) I thought I'd give this Beam software a go, after a bit of trail & error I got it running by using my Mobile Phone (Samsung S21) as the Webcam through 'Camo Studio' (I did initially try with DroidCam but that was a fail as the Beam image was flipped and there was not way to invert it properly) and then using Beam & the OpenTrack Software I was soon up and looking around the cockpit on my monitor. Now this was weird, it of course is still a million miles away from VR, looking around felt totally unnatural and simply weird but it was nice to see the cockpit and landscape in decent resolution....and sharp! I need to play with the settings to get the movement nice and smooth and to also look into both Beam & OpenTrack more closely, but my first impressions are very good. As a VR aficionado nothing will ever replace this tech and nor should it, but when it's 30c+ in my room or my heads spinning from a lager sesh the night before then this Head Tracking stuff could well become a decent enough substitute for those days, I shall persevere and may well purchase Beam as a Backup Option for flying. April 4, 20242 yr For those experiencing lag/latency, are you sure that it is set up correctly? There seems to be a lot of tuning capability, at least from what I saw in Overkill’s video. Cheers Steve Hall

I suppose there could be an issue with poor lighting and/or a bad camera angle but I've had no issues whatsoever with the Beam eye tracker while wearing glasses. I have my camera positioned on the top of my Honeycomb yoke about .6 meters from my eyes.
