Does AMD FX still come into play if you use DLSS > DLAA?

It does (unless you're also using DLDSR). Assuming it didn't, I had it a zero for forever, which was WAY too soft, and kept making me prefer DLDSR. Now that I finally caught my mistake, I run native resolution with 100 for the sharpening.

Dunno, but when I was trying various ways to get rid of FG associated aberration I tried DLSS > DLAA and indeed artifacts improved....but then the softer IQ.

So if you use DLSS > DLAA, what do you set AMD FX to?

I have it at 100

I have yet to see any video showing any serious artifacts coming and going as FG is turned on and off. I would have to stare at the video and really concentrate to notice the differences.

Agreed--video capture does not show this well likely due to the capture rate and compression algorithms.  If you saw what I see on my display live you'd have absolutely zero problem seeing serious artifacts as I've described them,. and by 'serious' my definition is bad enough to where it's simply too distracting, and undesirably unnatural.  And I've stated several times these artifacts are very lighting-dependent.  If you're curious enough to test it, do this:

  1. Set AA method to TAA
  2. Set AMD FidelityFX to 200
  3. Back out of gate B45 in say the PMDG 738, and point yourself due east.  Load up the Taxi or Runway load setting so your displays turn on and function.
  4. Set the time of day to around 1h after sunrise (so the tarmac is nice and bright, and the light is coming in from that low angle).
  5. Set weather to clear skies.

Now pan or taxi and notice out the left window what the tarmac looks like close to the plane.  Here, the flickering/strobing is too much, and the glass cockpit and FMC characters are unstable and vibrate or something when panning. Who knows maybe your system has something that would change this it's always possible.  Our systems are otherwise not identical at all including HDR settings, various other factors.  I strongly prefer maximum image quality over frame rate and the best possible image quality comes out of the normal rendering pathway, not thru frame interpolation.  That being said the current version of NV DLSS FG is very good, and superior to prior versions.  My guess is it will continue to evolve in a good way and some day may pass the Turing Test for matching native rendering.  In fact it's already mostly there save these aberrations when certain types of sharpening algorithms come into play.

It's hard to notice on videos or while in you are in an actual gameplay (or simming in our case). I remember back in 2022 people needed to print the "fake frame" to be able to show inconsistencies. In all games I've tried it was always minor. It's a lot less noticeable than the DLAA blurriness for example.

Dell 27" 2127DGF - 1440p - Gsync - 165hz
Thrustmaster TCA Sidestick Airbus // TCA Quadrant Airbus // TFRP T.Flight Rudder Pedals // Logitech Flight Multi Panel

I cannot exactly replicate the test scenario because I do not own any Boeing or Airbus 3rd party airliners. I guess I'll use the BAE 146 that I have.

So I did the test at Newark Liberty. Turn on FG on and off using the parameters in message above: There is a big difference. I can see it now.

Takeaway from this...don't run AMDFX Sharpening at 200.

The sharpening makes a difference. FG on and off, and mouse on main screen or on another screen, makes a difference.

I am not bothered by the difference because "big" is relative. Big enough to see, but not big enough for me to worry much about at all.  Compared to stutters or scenery popping for instance.

I was just about to say the same thing. I keep mine at 70, and everything looks perfect. I'm running at 4K Ultra, TAA, with FG on. The sim couldn't look or run better!

The only issue I have with FG is the need to use DX12 as for the past month or sowith DX12 I get system freezes - sound continues but the sim is unresponsive.  I don't experience this with DX11.  Most unfortunate as otherwise FG had been a game changer for me.

Can someone pls repost the link to the thread where there was a nice summary of how to set up DLSS nVIDIA Profile Inspector etc.? It was in one of the first posts in this thread but now the link is gone...

@Noel When you get this strobing effect, try pressing Alt + Enter to take you out of full screen and then Alt + Enter again to take you back to full screen. If that stops the flickering/strobing effect, it might suggest the problem is a monitor refresh rate issue, (note monitor frequency, not v-sync) where it is not syncing with what the GPU with FG is pushing out to it. You could then try adjusting the Monitor refresh rate, that is assuming you have a monitor that can handle 120/144/160Hz etc refresh rates and see if a lower or the monitors native frequency improves the situation.
