I suspect controlling AI will turn out to be a big challenge. It's not easy to set up a final sequence at a busy airport so you've got a "string of pearls" on final, and I think it will be a challenge to do this algorithmically. I think realistically we'll have to live with AI aircraft that bust the minimum separation on final. If they can even inject AI and keep traffic flowing somewhat believably in this situation, I'll be satisfied. That depends when you control the AI you can also cheat with the speeds and separation. In real life that is not possible. Edited May 6, 20242 yr by rob0203

I frequently requested to have an option to let Basic voices use only English voices but well, they didn't listen. Given the rather huge amount of complaints about it now they might listen after all. There is only so much a single beta tester can accomplish LOL The same goes for better button control (a toggle for the UI for instance): asked for it all the time, saying upcoming customers really would want it but again... no luck. I am sort of 'happy' to see quite a few of my ignored beta suggestions are now asked for by the paying customers. 😉 BTW Tip for those who don't have a credit card (like myself): on Discord a few guys have been able to buy BATC using the Wise app on their phones. Create an account, put money on it using your bank account and then use the app to purchase BATC. Not sure of how it works in detail but I will give it a try this evening (if the dev hasn't offered another payment option by then). Yeah, despite it all I am going to buy it LOL! In some countries, IIUC, GPay can in turn be linked to a PayPal account, so this might be an option too.

"Pilot-interpreted Approaches (eg ILS) Phraseology The phrase ‘cleared ILS approach runway xx’ has, in the past, introduced some ambiguity whereby pilots have taken this to mean they are cleared to the altitude/height depicted on the approach chart immediately prior to the final approach fix. This should not be assumed; normally clearances to descend at this point will be given distinctly. " //ICAO Standard Phraseology, A Quick Reference Guide for Commercial Air Transport Pilots. Actually it is possible in real life, and it's the main job of controlers. In high traffic areas they continuously monitor and request speed change to grant separation, at least in Europe, during approach and also on prior center if necessary. Having local controllers that speak the local language as well and knowing the procedures of the airpsace in and out, is really helpful for all kinds of operations. But it leads to the same result that you get with scenery add-ons. Where no one lives or flies, coverage is bad. Even within the busiest airspaces of the EU you get very white spots on VATSIM, becaues of the very small number of people from countries like France or Spain who are willing to controll traffic. And it's just a handful of people anyway. I hear the same voices doing the same sectors all the time. People should rather recommend more people to become Controllers on VATSim instead of flying there. Currently there are 950 Pilots online worldwide on VATSIM but only 49 Controllers. On IVAO you have 450 Pilots and 43 Controllers as of this moment. I mostly fly during the day, in the US. Right now I am flying from KDFW to KCID on A pilots Life. I believe there is around 3 controllers online in the entire US,
May 6, 20242 yr 39 minutes ago, Bobsk8 said: I mostly fly during the day, in the US Therein lies the problem. Vatsim controllers are in the majority not retired and have a full time job as well. So most of them will only come online around 20pm local time. The best coverage is of course on the weekends. I do network hopping depending on when and where I fly. Some areas have better coverage on IVAO than on VATSIM. You are not allowed to be logged in simulatnously but who is going to notice if you leave one network in currently unmanned airspace and enter the next with the same flightplan in the air in also unmanned airspace adjacent to a center that is manned when you are flying in and out of coverage? And in the future when BeyondATC has matured I intend to fill the gaps with it. Edited May 6, 20242 yr by Farlis

How the hell do I get rid of those cartoonish europeen accents and is there a show/hide UI button. Very dissapointing that none of these are available. Edited May 6, 20242 yr by petz_e

When finally up and running, it worked surprisingly well (it’s a paid beta after all). The only huge thing I noticed was a “turn left heading 060 and climb FL160” when I declared a missed approach. Quickly after it was told to maintain 5000ft and got vectored around for another approach. Initial impression: I was positively surprised. Especially by the speech recognition (I have an accent). Was even able to read back relatively lengthy instructions correctly on first attempt. Instructions “made sense” except for the missed approach altitude Pretty easy to setup and get used to the UI Is it worth the 30$? Too early to tell. I had not intended to use push to talk, but decided “what the heck, I’ll give it a go”. I’ve never been on VATSIM or used any voice-based ATC. So despite being a complete noob, I did feel it added to the immersion - and even stressed me out a bit, I might add 😅 Thanks for the video you uploaded EHAM > EGLL gives a good impression and that voice from that particular controller voice was so funny... At this point in time Pro-ATC-SR will be my ATC program... Will follow all but at this point it isn't a step forward besides controller voices. Edited May 6, 20242 yr by virtualstuff André
