- Additional fixes with flight plans, routes and TOD calculations.

Great to see another patch already. If anyone gets a chance to test whether "TOD calculations" addresses the descent clearance issues that would be great. I have done 5 flights with BATC so far and I'd say it was about 50/50 whether descent planning was totally off or just a little off - i.e. too high. That's my biggest gripe so far.

Had one approach into LOWW where it got the altitude restrictions spot on and cleared me in line with the transition (though no shortcuts sadly despite it being a long winded one). At EGLL it seems to be okay-ish in terms of alt clearance but still constantly too high, i.e. passing the stacks at 15+k ft vs the published 7k ft, which causes trouble down the line, and not updating clearances in line with published STAR altitudes. On my flight to EGPF last night it vectored me perfectly for the approach but again too high on profile and I started to ignore the alt clearances to have a fighting chance of actually catching the glideslope at the end.

Great to see a toggle for the accents too. I think some voices are fantastic and others sound like straight out of a cartoon. EGLL to LOWW was incredibly immersive, listening to different Dutch, German, Czech and Austrian accents (all pretty good!) along the way. But then flying up to EGPF I had EGCC Centre manned by Austin Powers' Goldmember again, there's definitely something wrong with the accents for Manchester ATC. Glasgow approach sounded pretty good - although far too easy to understand considering it should have been a thick Glaswegian accent...

I wasn´t until yesterday so what are you even talking about? Do a quick search on BATC threads here and you will have all information in a minute.

Are you really having trouble understanding my comment?  I dont think you are.  If you are trying to tell me that the internet exists.  Thank you, it is about time someone invented the internet.

Added option to force Basic Voice Model to use english-based speech. Use this if you were finding it difficult to understand some accents when using the Basic Voice Model.

I think I’ll use this. Trying to not have the BATC window open in order to practice read backs without seeing the text. But with some of these accents it’s tricky. Last flight from Munich to Milan:

  • Could not figure out they said Milan radar, mistook for Wien. After three “say again please” I checked the text
  • Misunderstood many altitude instructions

A few things I’d like to see:

  • button assignment for “let the FO handle it” - since I can’t fly the aircraft, enter arrival data in MCDU and handle comms at the same time
  • be able to choose different approach

Or, you can assign a key binding to "Fire Action 1", then minimize the interface. Pushing that key will select the first request/command in the UI.

Maybe this is what I’m looking for. If it selects first read back option. Would be nice to do that with a button, rather then bring up interface and click with mouse.

if I understand correctly, BATC does not yet talk to other traffic but will do so in the future.

So, if I want that other traffic to communicate with premium voices to ATC, that will add up to the costs as well (in other words, increase dramatically) ?

Just a heads up for anyone hoping to use VKB controllers to keybind a push to talk key to.  Currently anything from VKB is bugged and doesn't work with the keybinding.  Whatever button you try to use gets recognized simply as "hat switch/up" and doesn't work.  There's currently a support thread going on their Discord for it.

I had that issue indeed. I kinda bruteforced it by keeping the trigger (my go-to PTT key) depressed while clicking on the set key button of BATC. After a few tries, it worked.

I really like the changes from this latest build. Simple basic voice accents and toggle bring to front are really good and you have to wonder why stuff like that wasnt caught before early access. Now I wonder if you can make the program call you by the tail number...

I think so. Did a flight yesterday in the turbocharged Bonanza from Strasbourg (accents not too bad, added to the immersion actually) to Stuttgart. Problem was that it was using the US reg. nr. and not the German one for the livery. If that makes sense.

Going to do a flight in the Kodiak. My plan (not sure if it will work), is to file a simple IFR flight plan using simbrief, then ask for a visual approach into EDNY Friedrichshafen.

Well, hold it!!! Not so fast!!! 😉 I did say this time and time again during the entire beta but it was simply cast aside and ignored.

In the very end (after asking for it numerous times) the dev added the option to toggle aways-on-top and then I spend two more weeks trying to make him clear this was NOT what I meant... And even after the EA release he mentioned that option as if it was a toggle. I am very happy to see he finally got it.
(At the end of the beta one of the sub-devs made a grumpy remark about me asking for a toggle and button control all the time, saying it only took extra time and that it would introduce more bugs... The following discussion made me decide to leave the beta later that day. I am happy with the Fire 1 option but it's still very basic and not enough for full button control.)

The same goes for the basic voices: time and time again I requested an option for English only but they simply ignored it. I already predicted during the beta that these were options customers would ask for after release. Yes, I am very happy to see I was right LOL!!!

In short: the fact that something is not in a release (early access or not) does NOT mean beta testers didn't catch this.

You can't. BATC decides when you get a visual or not.

Hmm. Perhaps when there’s no other approach available. I’ll find a nice grass strip then 😅

You can use OpenKneeboard to capture and display any desktop app in your VR world when needed.

Thanks for the heads up. I‘m a noob at talking to ATC so seeing the most important info to read back in the BATC panel really helps me. Not seeing the panel had been one of the big downsides for me using BATC in VR.
