Welcome to the 12.1.0 Beta!

I know but to be honest, I expected something else. It's better but it won't do it for me at the moment. You don't need to make ten flights to realize this. I welcome the efforts and the improvements and I realize that it is very difficult to have a more revolutionary and spectacular result than this.

More to come! These things just need a lot of time in the oven. 🙂

Light years ahead of the competition. 😜

Always someone with a bucket of water to throw on the fire. Never ends. Some will never be pleased.

The SIM looks visually gorgeous now. Way better anti aliasing. The new bloom looks pretty amazing too.

I have never been able to get this sim to look acceptable in VR.....until now!!!! it looks AMAZING!!!!!! WOW!!!

Does Steam get to enjoy the update too?

Sounds nice to my hears, although I'm not too optimistic... Updating right now, I'll try to test later today.

XP's signature light magic has disappeared even the clouds suffer the consequences.

This is what I would have liked to continue to see which gave each flight a crazy charm.

Report back please 👍

AMD Ryzen 5600x, 32GB RAM, GPU Nvidia RTX 3060 Ti 8 GB, 1 TB and 500 GB nvme2 SSD drives, HP 27" 60Hz LED monitor @ 1920x1080, T16000, Hotas from old X52 Pro, Saitek Combat Rudder Pro (2010 model)

First load after update may take a little time. Quiet quick after that.

Changes to AI behavior. Seems now if they head butt on taxiway, one will despawn. First time I've ever seeing that.

Also lots of nice new objects for airport artists.

Meh - it’s a step in the right direction, but it has a long way to go, still.

Performance is better, weather conditions look much more accurate, which is good to see, jaggies are much less prominent.

But…..

Cockpits still dark - in the middle of the day, the cockpit looks like you’re at dusk/twilight. Lights needed to see what you’re doing 😂.

Texture shimmering on textures around you/near distance.

Pixelated/Scattering like crazy around the aircraft when flying through clouds. Weird lighting on the aircraft too as it transitions from cloud to clear.

Lighting/shadows around/on mountains still flashing

Cockpit screens appear blurry. Upping the sharpening causes an over-sharpened feel across the board. Running at 8X Aliasing seems to help.

Scrolling in and out on the external view while looking at the aircraft loads in or removes objects in the distance. You can go from basically no objects, to lots, just by zooming in on your wing/engine.

I don’t understand how through all this time, they still cannot get the visuals right.

I really really wish they would stop adding gimmicky things like tail strike sparks and just focus on solving the visual issues.

I dont understand how so many dont understand, this is a whole new SIM. They are pretty much rewriting the whole thing, hence the transition to Vulkan Metal. But to get all those pretty things you want, they need to get performance right. Nice to see 52 FPS now. Of course that means now we may expect some developer updates to start addressing some of the changes.

But as they say, no matter what they do someone will never be happy, always need to have something to complain about.

I just enjoy the gift that keeps giving. No complaints from me.

- Dark cockpits were not in the plans for 12.1.0, it'll probably be part of the large lighting update in 12.3.0 if I had to guess.

- Light/Shadows flashing, please report a bug, as well as disappearing objects when scrolling in and out if that was not the case before. I can't see both FWIW.

-If your cockpit is blurry (I'm assuming the author has done a decent job in his textures), 8X MSAA will do the exact opposite of making them sharp, it's a VRAM overload & will make them even worse. If it's worse than before, report a bug. If it's the same as in 12.0.9, maybe you should check your setting & plugins.

-If there are new artifacts in clouds, report a bug as well.

Remember it's a beta (hence even LR think it's not stable), addressing issues is perfectly needed but please make sure to report the bugs.

The artist who makes tail strike particles, is not the person who can program lighting or perform engineering changes to the platform. Assuming so is a weak correlation.

Dark cockpits are actually being worked on, alongside the lighting recalibration.

Now, sorry but I have to say this !

I didn't know there was such a cute member in the LR Team !!! (is that you in the avatar ? 😜)

Jokes apart - Well, all I can say from a short test last night is that I LOVE the performance of this new beta, the clouds, the turbulence looks a lot more realistic from the two tests I could run given the short slot I had for simming... It's a WONDERFUL update ! So good that I can even forgive Austin for calling me names ...🤣
