My goodness what a glass-half-empty viewpoint. It makes me want to go back to Prepar3D where everything is so much better 😉

Shame really they haven't done anything with something that you would think is critical in a flight sim. They have improved. There's more layers of clouds, and there's no way you can recreate these clouds in 2020 right now Edited June 11, 20241 yr by Tuskin38
June 11, 20241 yr Clouds in the last two shots above seem more like stratus. It was an impressive trailer overall for me. I think there is still a lot more to learn about the weather system in particular which is hard to tell from the trailer. But I think there will be major changes in the performance if much more of the processing workload is done in the cloud as they have previously said. That is something you can't readily show in a trailer like this. But at the moment, i'm interested in the frame by frame nitpicking : ) I figured they would be pushing to the near limits of 2024 but that still gives them a solid 5 months to keep refining and adding towards release! I spend a LOT of time looking at clouds irl and in the sim. The lighting is slightly changed (I think for the better) but the cloud layers - I count 3 there. I made 3 here... There's definitely some lighting and scenery changes (like slightly higher res DEM and generated rocks and things near the ground), but I'm not seeing a massive change to the sim from the trailer #2 Let's hope they really attack the flight model and things like water physics. 2020clouds2 by Ryan Butterworth, on Flickr | My Liveries | FAA ZMP | PPL ASEL | | Windows 11 | MSI Z690 Tomahawk | 12700K 4.7GHz | MSI RTX 4080 | 64GB 6000 MHz DDR5 | 500GB Samsung 860 Evo SSD | 2x 2TB Samsung 970 Evo M.2 | EVGA 850W Gold | Corsair 5000X | HP G2 (VR) / LG 27" 1440p |
June 12, 20241 yr Y'all do realize that what you see in marketing trailers and what you get in game are going to be miles apart. Just look how smooth it looks in the trailer. MSFS have never looked that smooth. Ya'll keep dreaming though.

Plus from what we know from prior Asobo dev streams, 2024 will be vastly more efficient on the user's system. I would expect to gain performance on my current PC in 2024. It's not pre-rendered or anything.
