Help required with lossless scaling

Featured Replies

I have just installed the app but cannot get it to work. When I click on the "scale" button (top right of screen), it counts down from 5 to 1 and then gives me a message "Select game window".

I followed the installation instructions provided by IslandSim pilot in  his Utube video. What am I doing wrong? Are there other programs/apps that I need to install as well? Would appreciate some help to relieve my frustration.

Just click during the 5s period on the window your game is running in.

Assign a hotkey in Lossless. One that does not conflict with any MSFS hotkey.  Something like Ctrl+Q.  I find the default hotkey in Lossless difficult with my fingers.  Start Lossless.  Start MSFS, then when in MSFS use that hotkey.  Until you are comfortable with it, configure Lossless itself to show you the framerate on your screen when it is running.  To do that find the slider in Lossless labeled "Draw FPS".

The hotkey by default is CTRL+ALT+S - when you are sitting in the cockpit just hit the hotkey and you're good 👍

I see on Utube videos that the framerate is shown in top left window - a red number (eg. 76). But I get two numbers in white (30/60). Why am I not getting higher FPS?

Probably because you opted for 2x instead of 3x AND you're running MFS with half vsync and you have a 60Hz monitor OR you're limiting in NCP or Riva Tunner the FPS to 30.

Then 30 is what you get by default, 60 what Lossless gives you.

AMD Ryzen 5600x, 32GB RAM, GPU Nvidia RTX 3060 Ti 8 GB, 1 TB and 500 GB nvme2 SSD drives, HP 27" 60Hz LED monitor @ 1920x1080, T16000, Hotas from old X52 Pro, Saitek Combat Rudder Pro (2010 model)

Anyone got this running with an AMD GPU while using Adrenalin, I know they can be used but all the VOD's that I've seen are for Nvidia.

AMD 9800X3D,  NZXT X73 RGB AIO COOLER, Gigabyte X870 Aorus Elite WIFI7, 64GB 6000MHZ RAM, 4TB Samsung Pro NVME, 4 TB Crucial P3+ NVME, 4TB Crucial SSD, Gigabyte Gaming OC Geforce RTX5090, Antec C8 ARGB Case, X55 JOYSTICK/THROTTLES, LG 4K C4 42" TV/Monitor 120 Hz, 2 Dell 1080 monitors. Honeycomb Alpha Yoke, Bravo Throttle. Thrustmaster TPR Pedals. Moza AB6 FFB Joystick, Pimax Crystal Light VR, Tobii Eye tracker, Steelseries Arctis 7+ Wireless Headphones.

You're probably going to have to be the guinea pig because for the most part most AMD GPU users who are on a single screen should be quite happy with a properly set up fluid motion frames implementation. But i looked at your sig and saw that you are multi monitor + tobii eye tracker so fluid motion frames probably don't work as well for you. Good luck !

But why do I get 2 numbers - 30/60. Other people only have one number showing?

My monitor's refresh rate is 75 running at 1080. Without any mods I can get 65 FPS. Why can I then not get 130FPS? Am i not understanding something?

Am I limited to 75FPS by the refresh rate ?

that's because most people use NVIDIA cards ,so any tutorials on Youtube for AMD cards in MSFS are extremely limited and virtually none exsistant. For this hobby your far better going the Nvidia route

Does running either FS9 or FSX with an AMD integrated GPU (as the one in my laptop) count? I can confirm it works there.

Lossless Scaling for all my sims. What a godsend...

Mobile rig: ASUS Zenbook UM425QA (AMD Ryzen 7 5800H APU @3.2 GHz and boost disabled, 1 TB M.2 SSD, 16 GB RAM, Windows 11 Pro). Running FS9 there .

VKB Gladiator NXT Premium Left + GNX THQ as primary controllers. Xbox Series X|S wireless controller as standby/mobile.

I didnt experience any major diference in fps with LLS, perhaps it happens that is not so worthy using it with a RTX 4070 with native FG ?

I had the same issue and realised you have to be in the game as such.

I assigned ctrl+ Q as my hotkey, once in the cockpit hit that and you are in..
