I need some order and hope to eliminate some old outdated mods.

There's a free mod called Addon Manager or Addon Linker. I don't use it but a lot of poeple here swear by it.

Yep.  Addon Linker, that's the one.  Thanks.

I’m one who swears by it. Probably the most useful app for the sim out there and a huge time saver/headache saver for me!

It's easy to use and for me the biggest benefit is being able to safely wipe any trace of the default ac from the sim so I only see my addons. Except the Pitts of course. That thing is omnipresent.

Yes, one of the essential add-ons! Keeps my MSFS lean, I only activate stuff that I will either

a) fly with

b) take off from

c) land at

d) enhance the region I'm flying through

One of the features that stand out for me is the ability to assign dependencies, For example, a freeware airport needs a few libraries, then another freeware airport needs a few libraries and... who will remember them all? Simple. In Addon Linker connect the airport with the libraries it needs through dependencies and then it only takes one click to activate this airport and all libraries.

Same with an aircraft and it's liveries. And so on... 🙂

I'm another who swears by Addon Linker. An excellent piece of software.

If your comm folder is bloated then sure, but mine isn't and have no need for yet another app to deal with before setting up my next flight as I have ample to do already w/ SLC and APL.

Bloated is an individual definition. Some of us refuse to fly most non payware airports. Some of us have many payware planes also. The other great thing about it is ability to use an external directory to replace community folder. While I don’t want to reinstall msfs, if I did it would be far easier than those who don’t use addon linker. Don’t judge it if you haven’t tried it is always my motto. Especially in flight sim. I personally don’t even turn off and on different addon packages. Even not using that function, it easily rivals spad next as my most useful utility.

I finally got round to starting to use it a few weeks ago.

There's a learning curve like there is with everything, but once you get used to it, and get your head round the best way for you to organise your sceneries and mods the way that works for you, then it's very, very good.

I have no use for Addon Linker as stated and never told you nor the OP never to use it so you can take your "don't judge it" and send it to someone else who tells people not to use it.

You seemed to accuse those who have addons to have a “bloated” community folder. That’s all

Noel, my Community folder was quite modest, but I was curious to find out why so many people were raving about Addon Linker. I just liked it from day one. It recently came in very useful when tracking down installation problems with Pilot's Dash 7. Being able to switch other add-ons off and on soon had it sorted. I normally use a preset which loads everything into the sim, but it's still worth having for the day you have to troubleshoot a rogue add-on.
