Simworks or Carenado PC-12?

Featured Replies

Request for those happy customers with the SWS PC-12: please post a screenshot of your controller curves (yoke and rudder).

I only have the SWS version, but I personally think it's quite enjoyable. It certainly flies very differently than most other addons in MSFS (even high-quality addons like the Blackbird 310R). I assum

Have a look on SWS dsciord on development updates https://discord.gg/Ns7GkWW

Thanks for this very helpful link.

I joined the Discord channel and read through the posts and message thread regarding the yaw issue. While it's good that the dev is following up, the bad news is that it's still an issue after many months which makes me wonder if it's unfixable.

Pay attention to YD shut it off prior to landing at a few hundred ft and step on the ball 😉

There was a post in the Discord channel suggesting to turn the YD off on the downwind or before entering the pattern, but I'm wondering if that also fixes the yawing when the flaps are set to 40 degrees.

I have both but feel the same way. I thought for sure it would be a big improvement over the Carenado. It's one of the few purchases that I really regret. Like you said, maybe it's me. But, I don't like it.

I have SWS' Van-10 and Van-14 and I also viewed the interview with fellow developer FSReborn which is why I'm thinking the PC-12 might be a good buy.

I own the SWS. Great plane if they ever fix it. Very slow to get patches out.

Certainly if they fix it that would be the one to get.

If your willing to wait, just keep an eye out for the next patches and see if people feel it is now flyable

Never use it. Worst buy I have done so far for addon planes.

and IMO having to change your whole setup just to get it going properly is not a solution.

Makes sense. Could be that the dev is waiting to release a fix after MSFS 2024 becomes available but that might just raise more issues there.  Now really unsure about whether I should buy. Thank you.

The only problem I have is trying to work out how to get my the PMS GTN 750 into the SWS cockpit. Haven’t managed it yet..

I have the PMS version of the GTN. Does it work with the PC-12? I'm hoping that placing the GTN along with the PC-12 in the community folder and it has this "it just works" simplicity (and unlike what it was configuring Reality-XP gauges for some planes in P3D).

The yawing is not an issue as long as you fly the PC12 as it is intended (it's not an aircraft that you throw around like smaller GA). With best intentions for me there is no yawing issue and actually really fun learning curve.

When you are stable on final say ~500ft AGL you turn of the YD.

Simworks and all the youtubers who said it was great should be held monitarial responsible. The plane is pathetic from start to finish. Stay away. I never watch those guys that indorsed it on youtube.

I like the SWS in many ways, but the yawing is hopelessly unrealistic. Some folks seem to have this problem (like I do), some not. That in itself is alarming (and yes I have spent more time building and crafting controller profiles for this than flying the darned thing).

😆

I dont know if it's my old Saitek combat pro pedals or what but the yaw and coordinated flight in the SWS just isn't working for me at all.  Still can't really do crosswind landings in that bird.  It feels like I either have too much rudder authority, or none at all hehe.

Other than that the SWS is the winner overall.  Way better sounds, system depth etc.  One thing I don't love about the sws is the placement of the gtn 650 on top of the 750...it's kinda weird.  But I believe the 750 still controls nav1/comm1.  The CDI button on the GTNs is disabled and you must use the button on the center console to swap the cdi - another odd thing for me...but not a major issue by any means.

I'd say visuals are tied between C and SWS - I did a few paints for both, the SWS was pretty easy to work with livery-creation wise.

If you're just looking to load at the runway and go....maaaaybe carenado?  But if you want to put forth some effort into a realistic flight go with SWS.  Just be prepared to aggressively use your rudder pedals if there's a stiff crosswind.

Most youtuber pilots have never flown a real airplane…..

The SWS PC-12 flies very well. I don’t see anything pathetic.

You dont have to fly the plane in real life to know when it flys like it is on rails and drifts down the runway on takeoff and landing to know it is incorrect.

At least with my settings it neither flies like on rails not does it "drift down the runway on takeoff and landing" (I am actually unsure what you mean here). It feels pretty real. I sim-fly exclusively in VR and I am holder of a PPL with several hundred hours in single-engine aircraft. My personal tip; give it a try if you don't have it installed already.

I think that I saw somewhere that MSFS24 would include a PC-12? Maybe I'm hallucinating again (grew up in the 60s). If that's the case, I'd guess it would be the Carenado version.

All aircraft do figure skating on the ground, it's a problem with MFS physics and although it has improved a little with SU15 I expect it to improve in 2024.
