  • I am not sure what I am thinking about the FS24. It is a FLIGHT Simulator, we need realistic weather, realistic clouds etc. not elephants on the ground. Sorry

Who cares about install times? I care more about game startup time.

By default, now we I have to wait for assets to stream download each time one starts a flight instead of the files being local.

I envision most people changing back to having files stored locally.

Loading times are faster now because everything isn’t stored locally

I will not play this playorder game.

That Microsoft think they need to do it is ridiculous. Preorder is something for small studios who want a financial boost in the late development process. But a multimillions dollar corporation like MS does not need pre-order sales.

So they shouldn't do them. Because they make absolutely no sense with software. None.

I would argue pre-orders help reduce the purchase order servers from crashing or getting clogged/overloaded on release day.

Yeah, it took me a day or so to download MSFS upon release...I'll eventually pre-order ‘24 just to be able to pre-load it.

I pre-ordered a few days ago and as of yet, MS has not extracted payment from PayPal. They may not do so until the actual release when I download the software. If that is the case it is less a “money grab” than a way for people to get their order finalized before the actual release day when “everybody” will be trying to order at the same time.

Literally every large game dev does preorders... EA, Ubisoft, CDPR, etc etc etc. You are asking MS to be the exception to the rule for something that is completely optional.

The funny thing about them is, yes, in the digital world you don't need them. But boy howdy, if you don't have a preorder up the second the announcement is out, wow, the devs hear about it. 🙂

A majority of studios do preorders,  big and small. It’s never been exclusive to small studios

Yeah MS store doesn’t charge until shortly before release. Steam charges right away though

Jeff thinks the stuttering, in at least his videos, was due to the recording software, because he doesn’t remember any at all when actually using the sim
