I decided that it was not worth it. For reasons similar to this video. And the fact that planes you own in 2020 will port over to 2024 and be updated to 2024 standards (as long as you do own the plane in 2020).

Does this only apply if you are staying with the same installer/shop - steam Vs gamepass/ms store 

 

I have PD through Steam, but want to make use of my gamepass ultimate subscription and just have the *free standard if possible. Will I keep my PD aircraft and airports?

It only applies if you stay with same shop. Anything bought in a Steam msfs2020 marketplace will not be even seen by a store bought msfs2024 as ever having been purchased by your account. Jorg made that very clear near the end of the last Q&A.

There is a thread on the official forum actually about this, others feel the same way as me - Jorg seemed to contradict himself within the space of a few minutes when he attempted to answer two questions on the subject during the recent Dev Q&A.

Imo and others saying they are two different platforms - they don't talk shouldn't be a reason why you cannot transfer over content - you login using the same MS account, so technically there is no reason why you cannot keep you PD content. The Market place I'm not so sure, but feel this shouldn't be a reason either. Take Steam for example and try requesting a refund, they will reply and say it's not down to them. The contract is not with steam when you make purchases.

If you buy msfs 2020 for pc on Steam. And then using the same ms account, buy msfs 2020 on an Xbox console. You will have two marketplaces. On on the Steam PC version. And another on the Xbox console version. These two marketplaces, with the same MS account cannot talk to each other, are not aware of each other.

I know because that is what our family did. Steam pc 2020. And Xbox console 2020 using a MS account. What we buy on one marketplace has no effect on the other. The two marketplaces do not talk to each other.

It sure sounded to me like Jorg was talking about the same thing with 2 PC marketplaces in 2020 and 2024.

But this is just a technicality that Microsoft could address if they wished ... do a sanity check - we purchased a product from the in-game marketplace, paying through Steam or through MS is almost like choosing which credit card to use.
I'm surprised people aren't up in arms, though I don't care as I'll be sticking to Steam.

Another good reason to avoid Marketplace purchases - third-party vendors won't care if you shift between MP and Steam!

 

Buy the Premium Deluxe version. The additional $60 is peanuts compared to all of the money we will spend on addons over the life of the simulator.

Even with the news that our current planes will crossover and be upgraded, I'm still getting the deluxe for the new planes and to continue getting discounts on their future offerings

While I purchased a few of the Local Legends & Famous Flyers there were still several that I might want to try and if I included the 707✈️ the Aviator Edition was about as much as all these aircraft separately, so I figured I might as well buy the Aviator edition and get the whole package.

He did say they didn't talk to eachother, but then later seemed unsure/contracting. Anyway that doesn't really matter, to say they don't talk to each other is nonsense in this day and age. I've worked with companies with over 80 legacy and modern bespoke systems - they can be integrated.

Totally agree, glad I'm not the only one buying this.

I absolutely agree with you. The MS Marketplace is the same store, whether you pay through Steam or directly to Microsoft.

I'm sure if they could, they would.
