But it's now at the point where almost all of his posts are complaints about the clouds. Someone posts something about X-Plane 12 looking fantastic, there's turbomax, posting screenshots of his clouds that are at a specific time, under specific conditions, pointing out how Laminar can't even get clouds right. I can tell you this... I haven't seen clouds like his on my system, and I am not even running top-end settings. What I CAN tell you is that yesterday I did the same flight in a 737 from Atlanta to Tampa, which was at the time dealing with Hurricane Helene nearby. Both flights were done in live weather and I can tell you that both sims did a pretty good job illustrating the weather. I can also tell you that XP's clouds were very much on par with MSFS and considering the level at which the clouds were, the representation of weather on the ground (in terms of clouds AND lighting overall) looked far better in XP than in MSFS. It was one of those occasions where I am really impressed with how far XP came since I started using it during the 11.50 era. With the coming weather radar features we are getting in XP12 soon, I can't think why I would want to fly in MSFS if weather looks like like a major factor for my flight - the tilt and gain are FINALLY going to be the best weather radar representation in ANY sim. And according to MS/Asobo, unfortunately MSFS2024 isn't getting any improvements on its weather radar, so... that's kind of a big deal for me. This isn't one sim vs another sim thing, it's just... facts. And XP really has made great progress in visual fidelity in a VERY short amount of time - I remember the dull look of XP11 and having to tweak everything from clouds to water in order to get that sim to look right. Let's also not forget that XP implemented seasons natively before MSFS will finally get it in November. So, as usual, strength and weaknesses with both sims, but I have no complaints towards LR and in case any of them read this, I want them to know that there are certainly people who recognize that they are trying and are making progress quickly. Let's also remember that the next gen scenery for XP WILL come at some point, so... who knows how much better the overall world will look then.

I usually fly with real world weather. I get it. it is the messengers fault who reports issues with a game, not the developer who consistently fails to fix problems, be it beta or retail version, and ever since x-plane 12.0 and those are not "always the same screenshots" but new ones in a new beta update to illustrate it has obviously not been fixed or is a different but related problem. I also get that referring to MSFS is fine as long as it is used to criticize it, but don't you dare to point out where it might leave x-plane in the dust. your post gets deleted and you may get banned quote from the x-plane 12.1.2 release notes "Fixes: Fixed random crashes on Microsoft Windows for NVIDIA GPUs Note: Many thanks to all the testers who helped us finding and fixing this difficult issue, especially to @TokTok and @azpilot61 from the X-Plane Discord!" at least the developers are grateful for people leading them to fix difficult issues, and this cloud issue seems to be another one going by how long it has existed. especially when it occurs rarely and only for a few users. does that make it a lesser bug? no. does it help improving x-plane? yes. to make life a little bit easier for the agitated x-plane crowd: yes, even I can enjoy x-plane when it looks like this. it just has to look great consistently. not only most of the tme. identical settings, identical location. just one day later: AMD 7800X3D, Windows 11, Gigabyte X670 AORUS Elite AX Motherboard, 64GB DDR5 G.SKILL Trident Z5 NEO RGB (AMD Expo), RTX 4090, Samsung 980 PRO M.2 NVMe SSD 2 TB PCIe 4.0, Samsung 980 PRO M.2 NVMe SSD 1 TB PCIe 4.0, 4K resolution 50" TV @60Hz, VR: Pimax Crystal Light + HP Reverb G2 @ 90 Hz, Honeycomb Bravo Throttle Quadrant, be quiet 1000W PSU, Noctua NH-U12S chromax.black air cooler. 60-130 fps. no CPU overclocking. very nice.

If your heart is so set on posting about cloud issues...AGAIN...go for it...in a separate thread with a new title. We're all here to help. But when you go about asking for help in a really whiney, unorthodox, threadjacking kinda way, you won't find much help forthcoming.

One being that you DO say plenty of fluffy nice things about 2020. Another notable one: start posting links to pro XP items (videos, links to comments and technical discussions about XP's capabilities, etc.) over there. And be consistent over time. Not just a couple flicks now and then. They especially love past discussions about LR's goal of putting XP in a LevelD sim and discussions about shortcomings of "CFD-lite". Don't hesitate to point out the cowardly references to XP in 2020's SDK documents (some of which has been so kindly removed or mildly obfuscated). Also, don't just roll with the smack from trolls and mods. There used to be plenty of name-calling, blithe references to mental health and drug usage (probably bi-directional but I really only noticed it towards pro XP crowd), etc. in these forums. Thankfully that has subsided significantly. Friendly reminder: WHITELIST AVSIM IN YOUR AD-BLOCKER. Especially if you're on a modern CPU that can run a flight simulator well. September 28, 20241 yr Yeah, I don't understand this either... There are many of us here who fly on MSFS too.. I think even Goran has MSFS as well. No one is held to any weird "you must only use one sim" thing. There are strengths in both. But I see the progress LR has made and it's leaps and bounds. So, to say they aren't improving or fixing things is disconnected from reality. The most recent update cadence has brought new features and improvements in consistently - quicker than ever before since they have gone to a new version iteration system. Mind you, LR is updating the new features on XP12 quicker than MS/Asobo who scaled down to a couple of sim updates a year. When they were doing it every other month, they would break as many things as they fixed. I remember why I even got XP in the first place - their update back when XP was in 11.5 cycle broke altitude reporting. So while you were flying at one altitude, ATC used to think you were at something completely different. It took a couple of months to fix and I stopped flying MSFS and gave XP a shot. I have been here since and fly both about equally. Maybe 60/40 sometimes. So, as you like to express, don't "lecture me" on defending XP in this forum and getting slammed for sim allegiances - there are none. 🙂 The thread is about the fact that many of us are seeing XP better than it has ever been before, which is true. I can't wait to see what LR has in store for us - remember, we are still in the beginning of the 12 cycle, there is a lot more to come. There are many reasons to be hopeful and excited about both platforms. But it's just not fair to say that LR isn't fixing things. You seem to be fixated on an issue that they are still actively working on. If I remember correctly, one of the forthcoming updates addresses clouds TOO. Give it time, yeah?
