November 4, 20241 yr I've actually got no strong need to get 2024, got no beef with 2020 but if performance is better then great. Visually I'm ok Regards, Max (YSSY) i7-12700K | Corsair Vengeance LPX 64GB 3600MHz DDR4 | Gigabyte RTX4090 24Gb | Gigabyte Z690 AORUS ELITE DDR4 | Corsair HX1200 PSU
November 4, 20241 yr I promise to keep flying 2020 as long as I want as there is no need to for me to jump on the 2024 bandwaggon too quickly. I currently don't have much time to fly anyways during the holiday season. I will make the jump probably spring 2025 when my favorite aircraft (Fenix, PMDG etc) are functioning properly.

That's like $15K for real flights! I probably earned back the money I spent on whole flightsim PC/gear three times over... Of course, I can't put these hours into my logbook, but those are very effective hours for IFR training tremendously helpful. I'm longing for the days that I'll be back to VR to enjoy VFR flights, for that, FS2024 is coming out just about the right time. Good to see so many real life pilots use MSFS 2020 for IFR training! If you don't mind me asking, are you using MSFS for IFR training because the Garmin avionics by Working Title are that good and come closer to reflecting how the real Garmin avionics work in real life? i5-12400, RTX 3060 Ti, 32 GB RAM
November 4, 20241 yr As i mentioned in another similar thread my plan has changed. I was going to remove 2020 within days or so of 2024 launching. Now i am going to continue with both on my PC, just in case there are issues with the higher fidelity aircraft. But once the likes of Fenix, PMDG, A2A etc , etc are compatible, I'll move over. There are so many new aircraft to fly now if you like airline simulation.. For VFR there are so many places I still haven't even seen yet. Even if Microsoft hadn't announced a new sim, this would still have been good for a few more years. This is very unlike the time when MSFS was first announced (on the last day of Flightsim Expo 2019) when the visuals blew everyone away. From that day on, I struggled to enjoy P3D anymore. But that was a complete chalk and cheese comparison. This is more like a mild cheddar and mature cheddar comparison. Both very edible, but one is so much better. Edited November 4, 20241 yr by ErichB
November 4, 20241 yr One of my enjoyments of Microsoft flight sims has alway been how users solve problems, have answers and come up with add ons or mods that repair or solve problems. So I will be buying day one, expect some problems but I'm certain that there is someone, somewhere that will help and fix problems. But I use it for specifically the reason you posted. In vicinity of my aerodrome we have VOR apps, ILS, RNP (LNAV, LNAV+VNAV and LPV). Allt those are comfortably handled by the WT G1000 suite. And it is also a valuable tool to help you remain "instrument sharp" while you are not flying after you have punched that IR ticket. Because remember, to remain IR current, you only need to do a profiency check every 12 month.. Obviously this is not much, so a capable desktop sim with advanced avionics will be a help you maintain instrument skills and prevent rust for a fraction of the cost. Needless to say, a real plane is obviously a better choice, but I have found MSFS to be a perfect compliment to those expensive IR lessons. November 4, 20241 yr I love flying, so I don't really need a reason, however, I use the likes of "A Pilots Life v2" mainly because it saves me the chore of looking for realistic flight schedules, I have also recently discovered iFly Schedules in which you can tailor most airline schedules for your own use. But the latest innovation that has me intrigued is SimFly where you can earn digital currency simply by flying your favourite aircraft/route etc, it works the same way a virtual airline does the difference being you can fly the aircraft/airline of your choice. There are also plans whereby you can use said DC to buy aircraft and airports within SimFly and also earn when anyone uses one of your airports or uses one of your aircraft. As I fly and stream every day it's a no-brainer as far as I am concerned and so far I have earned 7 PAX which exchanges to $7! So my dream of becoming a professional airline pilot appears to be materialising, and the only danger I face is a sore wrist 🙃...........................I love technology. I had a feeling that MSFS was very useful for real life pilots because of its suite of Garmin avionics by Working Title. But I am not a real life pilot so it's always good to get this feedback from real life pilots like yourself and @FlyIce! With the improvement in the fight model and ground handling with MSFS 2024, and improved photogrammetry (which is probably useful for VFR training), hopefully more real life pilots find MSFS useful to help with their real life flying 👍 i5-12400, RTX 3060 Ti, 32 GB RAM

We've had some really fun group flights! Well, except for that nasty accident on Hawai'i... Also I do shared cockpit flights in the Fenix every week, currently doing a Norway tour in the iFly MAX, and just starting to learn the A380. After 15 sim updates the sim has gotten to a stage where it "just works" (well, most of the time). Add to that AutoFPS, REX Atmos, various season addons, FSHud v2 and a bunch of excellent payware aircraft and airports - I'll definitely continue to use 2020 for some time after the release of 2024. 7950X3D | RTX 4090 | 64GB DDR5
November 4, 20241 yr Personally i am more than happy with MSFS 2020 and wont be purchasing MSFS 2024 for at least 6 months even longer till all the release bugs, issues have all been sorted,im in no rush, unlike some people.
