I don't know if aircraft I had purchased through the Store, like the ATR 72, will become readily available on release?

You quoted your post instead of editing it.

But yes everything you bought on the 2020 marketplace will be there day one. Now if they will all work or not you'll have to test, but the Asobo published ones will probably work.

Why would you immediately burden a brand new product with a bunch of 3rd-party addons?  How can you do any meaningful in-depth testing of the new product with so many pieces of potential conflict?  Wh

  • Once I buy I am bringing nothing over from 2020 for a while. Need to see what works and doesn't before adding more variables.

  • Uninstall MSFS2020. Install MSFS2024. Wait and see what happens.

1) Buy 6 months supply of popcorn.

2) Eat above snack with suitable beverage while reading how everyone else gets on with the new sim.

3) Ask myself is the sim stable with my addons of choice? If NO then GOTO 1 if YES then

4) Buy sim during some Steam sale (summer 2025 probably 33%off)

That seems to be the best method. Some third party aircraft might be quite flyable albeit with some quirks but others will won't until they have received some updates. That depends mostly on Asobo fixing compatibility issues.

The same might be the case for airports. As for other adddons (interface, scenes etc), many of these might not work at all.

A2A has mentioned that their Comanche seems to work quite well in MSFS2024 apart from a few animations so I might add that one. On the other hand, from what I've seen the default aircraft are much improved so they might keep me busy for the first few weeks. Hopefully by then most of the compatibility issues have been fixed so that most of the aircraft work in their MSFS2020 version.

I see the confusion as I used transfer in the title but what I actually meant was more about addons that you need or rely on that you will need to install in order to make MSFS workable based on your setup.

Like you, I have a bespoke cockpit. Will need Axis & Ohs for sure before anything other than exploring the MSFS2024 GUI. Pop-out Manager and Addon Linker are 2 others that are cornerstones of my current config. Will ultimately need these or similar capability.

Guaranteed, I remember the early days of 2020, i can see a lot throwing every addon they've had in 2020 into 2024, then wonder why the sims crashing or wont load.

Oh yes!

"The sky has fallen 2024 doesn't work with X plane at Y Airport!!"

"Try disabling your other addons first?"

"Omg you serious I have like 500 of them on 8 usb sticks using 2 hubs one powered and one not that would take forever!"

I hear the sound of gum being chewed.... 🤔😏

As long as SPAD.neXt works, which I see no reason why it wouldn't, I'll run it right away.

I think the first thing to do is nothing. Wait for reports to come in before buying 2024. You may want a to purchase a different platform or a different level. How you think things will surely be, may not be.

I pretty much guarantee that the vast, overwhelming majority of "1st-day-ers" will have a great time. Exactly like they did with MSFS2020.

It's going on a new computer, and so is FS2024.

With over 1500 addons, I'll wait until addon linker is working with FS2024 and move everything over as it become compatible. No need to hose a new install with unknown problems from a older platform. Hopefully I can uninstall FS2020 completely by summer of 2025. I have a 4TB ssd C drive plus 4 other 2 TB SSD's so space is not a issue for me. I may remove FSX-se altogether when more of the older AC releases become available for FS2024 (ie dash 8-400 and older 737's 300,400, and 500 models.

There seems to be a way to link both MSFS2020 & MSFS2024 simultaneously. That's what I am hoping to do.

You shall. I already know. The number of people who spend their early time with a new toy obsessing over small details that may not be perfect is absolutely negligible in the grand scheme of things.
