If you don't fly with just keyboard and mouse, you must have controller hardware, like throttle and flightstick minimum. Since Asobo did not create a 'controllers config transfer program' (between 2020 and 2024) I know I'll be busy for at least 2 hours doing all that necessary stuff myself manually. But It will certainly be worth it ! Just be prepared 🙂 My plans are to delete all the pre programmed assignments as so theres no hardware conflicts and then just use Axis and Ohs from my 2020 profiles once the two planes I fly are native ready for 2024. That said, I do hope Asobo has learned the importance of coding this sim to be able to export controller assignments, logbooks, etc into whatever sim is to follow. I will say they did a great job on addons from the marketplace as I moved to a new computer a year ago and all my addons and I believe controller profiles loaded right up without doing anything. That was impressive to me. i9-13900K O/C | ASUS ROG Maximus Z790 Hero | 32GB DDR5 6000MHz Kingston FURY | RTX 4090 24GB | 2x SSD M.2 (2TB Samsung 990 PRO) 1x SSD (4TB Samsung 870 EVO) | Windows 11 Home | H20: HydroLux PRO:HardLine Tubing| 1000w PSU | Starlink WiFi

November 17, 20241 yr I have just one item on my check list, establish why my Starlink has decided to give up the ghost four days before launch of 2024. A fantastic product for the past 18 months but now dead as a dodo. It looks like I will be relegated to reading all of your good and bad experiences on my smartphone for at least a week longer which will be entertainment in itself. November 17, 20241 yr Okay so I'm not a newbie, but I am with all things MS2024. Will I be able to just "copy" the add-on folders that I have in my Packages folder, or do they need to be re-installed in MS2024 ? I have the Black Square planes, GTN 750 and a few JustFlight planes too Edited November 17, 20241 yr by thecanarian

No or very little addons will be compatible by the sound of things at launch, far better to wait until your informed your addon will work. Otherwise your very quickly going to find CTD's or other issues. Try finding the issue with that is a nightmare, but each to their own. November 17, 20241 yr Just backed up all my controller profiles to PDF, will start afresh with MSFS24 but handy to have should I forget a binding or two. Final proper flight in MSFS2020 might be tonight (if not already completed last week), although if the release is a buggy mess then I'll have that still installed to fall back on! Indeed that would be a terrible idea. I plan to run the vanilla install for a day or so to get antiquated, get my graphics and controller settings right. After that I will add a few airports to check how they fare as is (love my Caribbean). I have so much to check out with the new default aircraft (Twin Otter, PC12, PC24, Cessna 308, SAAB 340, A330) that by the time I'm ready to test the PMDG 737 or Fenix A320 there may well be a compatibility update out. It's at times like these that I'm thankful I don't have a complex setup with throttles, rudder pedals, HOTAS, etc. I only have a Logitech 3D Pro, which only has 12 buttons. Mapping my joystick only takes 5-10 minutes at most. I know some people will spend a whole day or two mapping buttons. 1 hour ago, Sethos said: I can't even believe people are honestly considering doing that, that is so harebrained. Being on MSFS forum, you wouldn't believe how many people are going to do exactly that. I've been warning on the forums about MSFS 2024 addon compatibility of 2020 addons not being as smooth as it may seem, third party devs have been warning about it, but it seems like some people have chosen to bury their heads in the sand and take MS/Asobo's word for it that "virtually all addons will work". I'm already mentally prepared for the amount of posts on the forums and on Reddit with peope posting a screenshot of a broken addon asking "Why is my addon broken?"
November 17, 20241 yr For me PMDG 737 Dynamic LOD app MSFS Map Enhancement FSHud and AIG Traffic That's about it I think. I've no idea what is going to work and what won't.
