MSFS 2024 flight dynamics and ground/water handling thread

I have seen this excuse being repeated again and again but it doesn’t make any sense other than MS is trying to sandbox core elements from third party developers.

Don't worry,  I'm not here to provide excuses for anyone and don't let me get in the way of your important keyboard warrior theories either🫡.

...what does that have to do with the topic of this thread? Ahh I forgot, any thread here with an ounce of positivity for 2024 needs to be derailed with negativity.

For what it's worth, I have over 170 hours in 2024 and have never seen textures that blurry, even when I up the sim rate to 8x. But hey, I'm just a shill for 2024 😂

A real life Cessna 172 pilot, comparing a flight in MSFS 2024 and a flight in real life for a 172, and then he comments on the flight model of MSFS 2024 at the 9:53 mark of the video:

FYI, he says the take off roll, landing roll, and the float are quite good for MSFS 2024.

A330 Driver recently reviewed the 2024 version of the COWS DA40 and this was his concluding remark: "simply is an awesome aircraftespecially the flight model is really good, it flies by the numbers from the actual POH, one of the few aircraft that you can properly trim out in the simulator, let go of the controls and it keeps going where it was previously going unless there is interference from weather of course.. I do really really like that.".

And he continues to love the default A330 overall and its flight dynamics having done many more flights and tests since his initial review.

Just happy that most of my planes seem to work (there is another thread about that) and am now impressed with 2024 with the latest beta. I am glad Piett told me to give it another chance.

Even my Big Radials Goose was fun to try some water landings again. 🙂

Great video, thanks for posting it!

It's interesting that you brought up the COWS DA40, which is the successor to their DA42 for MSFS. From my understanding, the COWS team wanted to make the most realistic G1000 NXi possible or their DA42.  They were working on the DA42 for both MSFS and XP 12 at the same time.  Based on my understanding, they still haven't released the DA42 for XP 12 yet because they are still working on the G1000 NXi for for their XP 12 version - you can see some of their updates on the G1000 NXi for their DA42 for XP 12 here: https://forums.x-plane.org/index.php?/forums/topic/281624-cows-introducing-da42-vi-tdi/&page=4

On the other hand, COWS has already released the DA42 and DA40 for MSFS, because they were able to use Working Title's G1000 NXi. Ergo, Working Title's G1000 NXi checked all the boxes that COWS expects for their product. What a magnificent job that Working Title did on the default GA avionics for MSFS, such that the avionics meets the standard of COWS!

As I understood it, they practically had to start from scratch with nxi because there were third parties interested in acquiring the license and they had to rewrite almost everything.

And yes WT is the best thing that could have happened to MFS without any doubt.

I didn't experience it during takeoff, usually hand flown up to flap retraction, or landing which I also usually handfly from the FAF, sometimes even disengaging A/T.

Here is Howard Forder from the Flight Simulation Association, a real life pilot, on the improvements in the flight dynamics in MSFS 2024 and the increased realism of the ground in MSFS 2024 (ie. you can hit a rock with your wheels during takeoff/landing in MSFS 2024 which can flip the plane):

I have to say that the Cows DA40 is probably one of the most realistic handling aircraft out there now.

The flight models seem to be very good in 2024.  Not sure if this is an issue or not but GA light aircraft like the Skyhawk and Bonanza appear to lose steering traction above a certain speed.  Which of course would be expected at some point.  It seems to me that that speed is lower than what it should be.  It could also mean that I need to give up racing sims! 🙂

Any thoughts on that?
