Afrer 1.1.9.0 it's not possible to use Community folder for third party addons anymore. The sim simply doesn't load any addon in Community folder.

What a bunch of jorgs 🤐

Sorry this is just wrong. I have moved a lot of my 2020 addon airports via Addon Linker, and most are simply stunning in 2024. I don't know why? but i can see me not needing to update many of them at all, as their that good.

Hi,

I can use my Community folder. No problem.

But I haven't noticed any changes after the update, though.

Some controls (especially keyboard) keep disabling!

And my CPU Temperature is exaggerated high: 80-90 ºC.

I'm quite worried about that.

Greetings

And how many days in the build up to release did they have to find most of the glaringly obvious bugs? The time since release is not the factor here, these bugs have existed since before release.

I understand the frustration from the poor release. But seriously, how realistic is it to expect wholesale improvements after just 79 hours?

Hotfixes for critical QOL items, SU1 where significant improvements start to arrive.

See above, they simply must've known about many more issues and would've had a cut off point before release for the Release Candidate build so they could get these fixed thereafter. I've seen very early patches from other games a mile long with fixes, I stupidly expected more!

Likesome others, i think you need to take a deep breath and think about your life.

Yes I get that point, ofc, it's only a game, stay proportionate, get a grip etc etc. I hope that one day, soon, it will work as promised. I'm a life-longer simmer so I definitely want it to succeed!

But there is a bigger issue here. It's about how big corporations treat the "little people". I think it's profoundly unfair and wrong that MS should treat consumers with such disdain. Goodness knows how many $millions they have now lifted from the "little people" - in return for less than nothing.

That sheer multitude of small disappointments, of hours spent waiting for the magic to happen, then finding that it will take an untold further amount of time to begin to work as advertised, is not a trivial thing when viewed as a totality and in the context of the vast sums taken by MS.

The fact that it's too trivial to be taken seriously at the individual level, makes it worse and more cynical, not better.

People parted with their money for a V1.0 product, not an Early Access title, not a (labelled as such) Beta, a V1.0. I expected more, I did not expect to see such schoolboy bugs in a first release (although I did expect a few because of past history but not this many!), I expect this kind of build in an Early Access title and they should've named it as such prior to pre orders/launch.

Exactly. There is no possible way that MS can have thought that this version was ready for public release. Even a  m o r o n  in a hurry could have seen that. But they stuck to their arbitrary timetable anyway.

Presumably they calculated that the fallout would be even worse if they postponed it. How could it have been worse? Because they had greedily opted to "pre-sell" - which turned the deadline from being something they could change based on product quality, into something that could not be moved.

Any lawyer will recognise only too clearly the deep cynicism of this move. They opted to release a defective product because although this was a breach of (at least) the consumer laws, the breach involves an application of evaluative judgment / making an assessment / leaves room for creative argument. Whereas postponing the release would equally have been a breach of the consumer laws, but without any need to apply evaluative judgment etc: ie, an even clearer breach and a bigger legal risk.

That, I am afraid, is probably the assessment that was made here.

I do now,

Thanks for that. I've voted, and noted their comments. I guess we just have to wait and hope. Be nice to get an option just to "disconnect" all 2020 content and leave it disabled if desired. As people have said, there is in effect no way to install a completely fresh native 2024 system if you previously bought anything from the marketplace.

Shut down sim, emptied Community and was up and flying within 4 minutes of starting the sim.

I experienced the same, was stuck at 97% and thought it was that server issue again when instead it obviously was some addons in the COMMUNITY folder. have to check them one by one for compatibilty I guess.

Can someone please help this aging simmer and explain what and where exactly we're supposed to remove these outdated packages in the community folder 🙏?

If you mean the stuff automatically bought in from your 2020 marketplace purchases - you can't currently remove it.

I think there is more than 1 single dev, perhaps 2 or 3 and they can work shifts? 😀 just like a hospital emergency room is magically staffed  and open 24/7

Let's face it, rather than loose a little bit of face by pushing the launch date back, they decided to just launch it no matter what, and with all of the know issues.
And they can't say they didn't know about most of the issues, or it means they haven't tested it at all, which is reckless.

I have no preference personally, as this is just like early access, but for them, a beta test period and launch early next year may have been the better option in terms of their stress levels and the amount of flak they have taken.
