I jumped in on Thursday and apart from having performance issues in certain situations I have had nothing but good first impressions.

I think it's profoundly unfair and wrong that MS should treat consumers with such disdain. Goodness knows how many $millions they have now lifted from the "little people" - in return for less than nothing. I lay it all at the feet of the MS execs, head of entertainment division, etc who almost surely forced the release date to be set in stone for Nov 20th. Those close to the development of MSFS at MS (Jorg, Seb, and their teams) obviously must have had a good picture of the state of all the bugs and issues. I'm sure they would've loved more time and a delay in release to get it into a state they liked. At the end, they very probably prioritized the nastiest issues and got them fixed before release, but to me this feels like the "the is train is leaving the platform on Nov 20th no matter what so get it in best a shape you can" directive from the MS suits. I'm not sure how severe an issue or set of issues would have had to exist for the MS execs to allow a delay in the release date. This is a common (and unwelcome) trend in recent years both in entertainment software and enterprise software industries. In my line of business which is the latter, the threshold for release quality has gotten lower and lower as it's all about being first to market or holding to a date that has already been announced and a lot of fanfare and extraneous activities planned around it (we in the engineering/development side always fight with the suits on this). In any case if I approach MSFS 2024 with the mindset that it's a new platform for me to to play around with and enjoy the new advancements (of which there are many and some substantial), when they work, and will only improve with time, then I'm going to be less stressed about it given that 2020 is always there as the stable sim platform. Also I think the fixes will come faster and more frequently than during the 2020 teething months since a lot of the fixes will be server-side and not even announced necessarily... i.e. this 1.1.90 update the items they listed as fixed might only be for the client-side update. No doubt that they had to be ready for the Xmas sales. so the sim was not completely ready and for sure they would have loved to have more time in their hands. the start was shaky to say the least but the sim is already better days after days even if for some, it is sadly still not playable. But this new sim has a lot of potential and that's the most important. Give it a few months and the result will be awesome.

It’s a frustrating cycle. 2020 had issues when it was released but now it’s in a great, stable form. Now we have another sim released too early, and though I’m sure the issues will be ironed out in time, the cycle continues again. Frankly I wish MSFS2024 became MSFS2025 and released in a condition that let us avoid this early period where it’s full of issues. Sure I could just continue with 2020 for another year (and likely will for tubeliner flying for a while), but the development attention for most devs will be shifted to 2024.
