December 2, 20241 yr I paid $299 AUD for Aviators Edition. The first couple of days were rough, but now I enjoy 2024 with our online flying community. The new sim is working, and we have some amazing flights in amongst some incredible scenery with a variety of aircraft. Yes, it needs tidying up and that's regularly coming in updates/patches. Loving every minute of MSFS2024. Jase

To make new control bindings, I click on what I want, press a button on my peripheral and move on. To adjust options I click on the little gear icon. That's like universal for "click me for settings." What do people want in the GUI? Or is it just the fact that it....gasp!... changed from 2020? 1. Does not resize appropriately to facilitate efficient viewing of content. The large buttons are great and all but that button space and other dead spaces could have been better used for people that want to better see the aircraft selection that they have. 2. It took almost the ENTIRE alpha period for me to get my equipment working .. and i used to work in IT. Was this honestly the best most efficient way they could have done this implementation? No one is complaining about the GUI being changed. as a matter of fact a redesigned gui was expected of a revised product. The issue is that from an ease of use perspective the implementation was not much of an improvement .. and apart from having controller settings for each aircraft many could say the implementation is actually worse (from their perspective) mine included.. Your value may vary however.. I wonder if it is because most people have no clue about IT, programming etc. (including me) and are just happy if it «kinda» works. But honestly, if all branches would work like IT, world would stop functioning in two weeks 🤣 Imagine a car being sold in a state as many software? Or health products? Or even food, having food products with a QA on a IT or software level, people would be poisened all day long. A mystery to me in todays ages. Let me give some perspective. I work at the software development company, which develops software for bigger companies (the likes of Bosch, Porsche etc) as a part of the technical operations team - i.e. IT. I can tell you things are not always as simple as you might think. Neither is money provided. There are deadlines, contracts, SLAs, budget, time-constraints, personnel, complexity and then even more complexity and finally also the human factor. Just because Asobo has Azure in the background, doesn't mean they have unlimited resources on Azure. You are, I guess, also aware that Azure is not limitless when it comes to resources? We have resources for AI and machine learning in Azure, and I can tell you that our devs have to keep machines provisioned (means: paying continuously), because the next day they won't be able to power them on, since there are not enough resources. I am not saying that this is an issue here, just pointing out that thinking that Azure is limitless is misleading and needs a little understanding of everything. Of course, a simple Xbox or Flightsim-on-PC user won't know much about it - and honestly - doesn't need to. Still, a fact remains how it really is. Also the fact that some people seem to run MSFS2024 just fine (me included, been flying daily without issues for a week now, just yesterday finished a beautiful Fenix A320 flight from Vienna to Nice, without a single glitch) and some people having issues, might have a region as a reason. As various regions on Azure have different resources available. Now, I do think that users should have the ability to download all downloadable content offline, except obviously the whole streamed world. And they said it's coming. I firmly believe they did the best they could, given that the release was most likely a business decision, more than anything else. And they are talking to us. They are fixing issues. What more do you want? ... And know what? Nobody is going to DIE if a software - a GAME at that - doesn't work for a week. Come on. Edited December 2, 20241 yr by Simon_C

My2c... I like the new menus. More than those in MSFS2020. Can't say why. They just seem more modern to me. Personal opinion, nothing else. I also like assignments better. I had to assign and re-assign everything in both sims, I actually had them fresh installed parallel, and setting them both up, side by side. Working with assignments in MSFS2024 is better than with MSFS2020 in my opinion. Edited December 2, 20241 yr by Simon_C

Because I know that: I don't have to spend any more money on it for the next 4 years. it was going to be problematic in the beginning. And I was right ! 😁 It's usable right now, and is improving daily. I'm flying in it almost every day, time allowing. Anyone who expected a massive, bleeding edge product/service like this to work without issue out of the gate had/has unrealistic expectations. It's like going to a hot new restaurant right after they open. There's going to be lines, delays, slow service, etc. But as long as the food is good, you'll be back! And my core experience with v2024 is more than good enough so far, and I'm happy to have the opportunity to play with it now, and VERY glad the software delivery model means I don't have to wait long for updates.
