1. It's lagging, like nothing is running offline, feels like a stylish website

2. Horizontal scrolling. For 4 years we used Vertical, why change?

3.Aircraft selection tiles, top half a picture, bottom half, nothing, nearly everything in a single line that's too big to fit the tile, why not using it for the stats, or fit more plane, so no need to scroll for 40sec.

4. Select an aircraft, press configure, then save and back, you won't see your aircraft anymore, you will need to scroll back to it.

5. In the configure menu, you have the aircraft rendered in 3d, but it's static, why no hangar type of view, where you can move the plane around, missed opportunity here and no more hangar.

6. Sometime small plane are tiny in 3D and similar size one is too big to fit the screen

Alright thanks for writing up your thoughts... some people just say it's bad without an explanation.  To me that means... oh no it changed and I don't like it haha!

When the UI is less than 1% or the flight sim experience but takes up 25% of your review, it sounds less like a review of a flight simulator and more like a review of interface ergonomics.

Not a review but a first look / impressions.

The UI, is the first thing you see when you are opening the sim and I don't know about you, but personally I like to spend the first 30min or so looking at every menus, new functions and aircrafts before starting a flight.

If you go on a tinder date, the girl welcome you with a burp on purpose, even if the rest of the evening is going well, you will heavily remember that.

What a real great analogy 🙃

So we should accept a broken product with broken features and wait for X amount of time for a fix, but not knowing if that fix will actually ever come?

Were you not entitled to a refund, but you kept it anyway?  I'm surprised if that is the case since you actually operate under the belief that MS/A may never deliver the fix.  If that is truly how you feel then it's no wonder you're wallowing in what went wrong.  If I thought MS/A may not work vigorously to continue development as they did so very regularly in 2020 I'd be miffed too.  But I'm not and have 100% confidence they will continue getting everything up to snuff in relatively short order.  In fact I predict the completeness of 2024 will be vastly faster than was 2020 after its launch to where it is today.

Red herring and ad hominem.  Argue his position, not the person.

Requested a refund from Steam. Cannot support something like this. Tried one flight today and CTD within 5 minutes. Fail.

Well that right there is the exact problem that you have, you've come to accept broken products on release that many others fund unacceptable. Perhaps if you stepped outside of your "serious" flight Simming world you'd see a very very different picture.

Imagine Far Cry 6 released with fundamental broken features, or the next World Of Warcraft released with basic mouse control broken. That wouldn't stand at all, so why should it here? What's the difference? This is a game, it has broken mouse control amongst many other issues, no one should accept that this is good enough, but yet you do, that's very strange to me.

I fundamentally disagree with your premise.

The sim.is.not.broken - it's running just fine on my machine.

I fly big iron, GA pistons, GA turboprops and even helicopters.

I'm flying every day and finishing flights on my own terms.

And I'll tell you this, it's running BETTER than v2020 did when it released 4 years ago.

And I'll give you some professional IT advice: MSFS did NOT break your mouse 🤣

Wow! Sorry to see so many with their glass half empty. No issues here. Flying only the GA airplanes so far. Improved aircraft ground handling and a more realistic feel on takeoff and landing, in combination with detailed ground terrain makes VFR flights an incredible experience for those geographic locations on your real world bucket list.

It's not so bad.

Today I did a flight in a hot air balloon. At 1000ft, the basket propelled itself over the balloon and even with the burner still throwing flames upward, I was able to reach 5000ft/min. Before that it was only 3-4000ft/min.

A least it made me feel better than the UI

This gave me a big grin😆

Loathe though I am to participate in the carnival of daft analogies that many in the flightsim community seem to enjoy, any woman comfortable enough to burp in front of me on the first date is a good match and certainly not a deal-breaker for the rest of the evening.

Gobsmacked you went anywhere near it in the first place. You saw the tech alpha and loudly and repeatedly said this is it, this is the final version, it's going to need at least 6 months to a year to be playable.

And then you went and bought it anyway.....?

Another one I just can't understand buying it in the first place. He's said so many times Asobo are a bunch of incompetents who can't be trusted, they should all be ashamed of themselves etc. etc.

Knowing / believing that so strongly, why would you ever buy anything from them ever again?

I think everybody would like all software to be perfect at release.

I think everyone thought the release would have minimal bugs and would be less of a dumpster fire than it turned out to be, given they had 4 years of experience and a solid base to build this version on. I think everyone knows this wasn't anywhere near ready to be released but the directive from the executives came to let this out and to bring in the cash flow.

The server scaling disaster was avoidable by having a good test pilot with around 50k people hammering the servers and they would have an idea how to scale it. Didn't have to be a long pilot, 3-7 days of well executed plan and this wouldn't even be an issue.

Yesterday I was in the default Max, at default PHX taxing to 25R from the E gates and all of the sudden I hit some kind of black hole where I teleported to FL120 and climbing steady speed with landing gear extended, flaps 5 and all lights in the cockpit on. Some of the bugs that are in this thing are absolutely unforgivable, no matter how much you want to bootlick.

Also, the flat out lies about FS2020 product compatibility is another one...

Because I'm passionate about this simulation, I want it to succeed and I have a little bit of blind faith that they'll do the right thing and fix the issues.

Again it seems a lot of you can't accept other people's opinions without going on the mass defense and counter attack, go read the official forums/social media etc I'm clearly not the only one who's annoyed by the state of this game at release.

I'll remember that next time I buy a car with the steering wheel broken!

People buy cars that have delivery faults all the time.  Some shout and scream while others realise these things happen and deal with it calmly. Neither find the situation acceptable.

You want to continually blame someone and shout about it, but I will allow them time to fix the release bugs while very much enjoying what 2024 is doing exceptionally well.
