Developer Stream MSFS 2024 - Wednesday Dec 4, 7:30 pm GMT

Featured Replies

Watching this stream, their faces say everything you need to know. If you watch back on other streams, Jorg has a different personality. It's pretty clear they know they bombed this. Whether or not they can correct the ship is yet to be seen. It's a shame.

So if I understood correctly, streaming wise, we'll be able to set the sim up such that we can at least get back to 2020 streaming levels where aircraft/airports/scenery/etc can be installed locally.

It sounds like they'd like to get it to that point using the rolling cache. You'll also have to download things like aircraft and airports if you don't want them to be streamed. For me, I'd rather download my payware aircraft and scenery. The rest can be streamed.

Yep his face paints the picture, lovely of him to properly apologise for the launch/CDN issues which is appreciated, however he now clearly understands the actually sim is a mess with far too many issues, you can tell that in his face.

Right with a large enough cache one might be able to get it to that point, but I thought you can also force install stuff locally outside the cache?

I would really encourage everyone here and on the stream chat to remain civil. It's okay to be frustrated and as a consumer to feel let down by a corporation and/or product that we invested our hard earned money into. However, the stream is a fluid presentation. They never suggested anyone should just buy a new GPU, on the contrary they quickly noted the comments in the chat that users with 4090's were experiencing the same issue and committed to work to identify the issue within the next 24 hours.

I watched the stream for about 20 minutes and was completely and utterly dismayed by the content of the comments I was reading. We are very lucky that after the unmitigated disaster that was the MSFS 2024 launch that they are even having a livestream. This is not an opportunity for them to "face the music" or for us to collectively yell in their faces. It would be much easier for them as a company to do away with these livestream events and instead hunker down with little/no communication as many other companies do.

I want to be clear I am not being an apologist for ASOBO or Jorg's mismanagement of this launch. If we wish to continue to see this level of transparency for the leadership I would strongly encourage people to take a deep breath and instead engage in CIVIL discourse.

Everyone has been civil and this thread is extremely tame - so not sure why you felt the need to post this. People are allowed to vent and debate.

I read on the official forum, albeit from a user not Microsoft, that the download of data feature will be enabled from next week and was always planned. I don't know if the timing has been officially announced, but I recall a pre-launch interview where they said simmers would have that choice to download the city, aircraft, etc., data, just as they do in 2020.

It makes sense for them to delay such a feature as they will want to know the servers can handle a worst-case, heavy load streaming scenario. If they had that feature enabled from launch, if many people download the data, they wouldn't be able to judge what the servers can actually handle in the event people switch entirely to streaming. That's my theory.

I want this sim fixed like everyone else. That launch and all the bugs plus the night lighting… you’d think they tested this right.

HOWEVER…. I’m around board rooms and execs all day… and it’s just an all too familiar scene. People at the top want their money, Jorg just below them has to make the promises and deadlines…. Jorg doesn’t make deadlines for them he gets burnt…. Jorg makes deadlines for them but has to cut corners to do so…. Gets burnt by us. This is why they say ‘you pay the cost to be the boss.‘

I wish them all well and hope the sim improves in a steady pace.

4 airplanes will be added to the base sim over time for free as part of a make up for the launch. One is the CAP-4, the Brazil local legend.

Ok, now the really important, did they give some response for VR, improvements, quad-views, bugs, etc.?

Yes, the 3 main game breaking VR issues (EFB not working, toolbar sporadically not working, mouse not working after menu usage) are "In Progress" but no ETA on when they will be fixed, fingers crossed for next weeks Patch 3 (I think unlikely), if not then then who knows.

Microsoft has also made a deal with Embraer, so expect to see stuff from them.

Hope at least one fat fighter like a Typhoon, F-15, F16, F14, or all together haha.

And another 4 aircrafts for deluxe, and 3 more for premium deluxe would be great!

It wasn't directed at you in particular. I was just noting that there seemed to be some frustration and misconceptions pre-maturely in the early threads here about the devs allegedly suggesting that people should just upgrade their GPU's.

I agree that people are more than welcome to debate and honestly have every right to post whatever they want. I purposefully noted the stream chat as its not exactly what I would consider civil discourse directed at the devs. I was just providing some words of wisdom and trying to encourage some thoughtful behavior.
