the Fenix works

For those who only fly the Fenix I suppose it's quite good.

  • Presented with all the successful work they’ve done on the ground physics, flight physics, turbulence models (ok, not that one yet😅), EFB/charts, walk arounds etc.etc., I’m not sure ‘they’re going for

Indeed. Well, actually the Fenix is the only aircraft which not only works flawless but also which managed to get my controllers working with as „before“ in 2020. now if i could close that ATC window (as it keeps popping up whenever the mouse is moved, so basically all the time - no, per my settings there are NO double binding) and that spinning circle really eliminates fully (could do 2 nice flights today and then again that circle out of the blue)

It even already outranked MS FLIGHT (for me), which is a 1st time since MS FLIGHT...

Unlike, I suspect, most of you guys on here, MS Flight was my entry point into simming. Never bothered in the past - wire frame models or dodgy rectangles never appealed to me. Saw a copy of "PC Pilot" magazine with it on the cover and realised flight simming was finally looking attractive. Bought the magazine, bought the sim, MS shut the sim down about a month after that and I never got a chance to grab the limited number of extras, but then got myself a copy of FSX.

For me, MSFS2020 was what I'd been hoping for once I lost MS Flight, and MSFS2024 already is another big leap forward in my eyes even with all its initial problems. I haven't watch this stream, but maybe I'll take a look later sometime.

That **** copy of PC Pilot was the most expensive magazine I ever bought!

I also felt a special thing with MS Flight that I know you did but many others didn’t. I’m wondering in 2024 if I can feel the hand of IL2 Alexey in the FM, as there’s something reminiscent of my all time top fm feeling, the default 109s in IL2, in 2024. Maybe the sounds in aggressive rolls is triggering it, but whatever it is, loving the fm in 2024!

I thought I heard Seb mentioning in a Q&A session last year that Alexey was focusing on helicopter dynamics, but that might've been for some 2020 improvements at that time. No doubt he's had a hand in flight dynamics improvements in 2024 but I also think a big part of it is the much more precise aircraft surfaces and geometry over which the CFD calculations are made. For CFD to truly shine the aircraft surfaces definition is very important and in 2020 that was just a basic and less granular shape. Coupled with the IRL measurements and then tuning of FMs they also did, all have resulted in various default aircraft in 2024 exhibiting such improved flight dynamics I think.

I have RTX 4090 +I9 14900K. All my options are in Ultra and same exact settings as FS2020. The sim experience is smooth BUT the there are a lot of micro stuttering compared to 2020, especially when panning in the cockpit from one side to another

Set your 'Off Screen Terrain Pre-Caching' to High or Ultra in the General Graphics settings.

Already did it first day

Was there any info on when “patch 3” is expected?

Last I checked, even with the new math they teach these days, a week is 7 days.

The post said "week of the 9th"

In the stream they said 10th or 12th is the new plan.

The fact that the head developer dismissed the VRAM leak and basically said you need to upgrade your GPU is insanity. Even the 4090 is having issues. If this game was a free upgrade, ok I can't live with the all the issues but the fact that the average person spent over a $100 for a game which looks to be an internal alpha build is ridiculous.

Similar setup and completely agree. The 'look ahead' smoothness is quite good in 2024. But the stutters are much worse than 2020. I'm the type to use drone and external view a lot to appreciate the visuals. And a lot of looking around is pretty rough right now. If youre looking in one direction for any length of time, then change views, it's quite laggy/choppy. And that's ultra pre-cache setting.
