First of all thank you for sharing your thoughts Paul. I wasn't thinking about you though, when I wrote what you quoted.

I find the generalization and name calling directed at those who are unhappy by people who are happy with the sim absolutely over the top.

I agree. It goes both ways. I guess we're a passionate bunch...

I haven’t seen the stream yet so I’ll just assume for the moment that you’re right and he did look despondent for an hour.

And, perspective differences aside, I find it very sad that you think the right way to get you want is to push people into despondency, and when you get that it gives you hope. That’s really not healthy for anybody.

Thats your take on it..

Him looking the way he did is showing people that he is actually taking responsibility and displays the seriousness of the situation. You can read it as people being mean.. Or you can read it as people being angry at the release process and the current state of the sim vs what the marketing team pushed to the public.

I know your relatively  ok with the current state of affairs and i fully respect that but quite a few of us would have preferred having a better experience out the box and it didn't happen.. depending on how much they are invested in this sim you are going to have people who have a right to express their disappointment and want to ensure that their disappointment is received, understood and worked on.  Jorgs behavior and remarks indicate that the message was received and correctly "read the room". No one who is upset is expecting to see a smiling people talking up the virtues of the sim and ignoring the multitude of issues and grievances that they have or are experiencing .. that has to be addressed.

Don't think he has one. Check his post history. Every single post since launch has been nothing but negativity, misery, clown remarks. Think he's just getting a kick out of complaining at this point.

Which he’s perfectly entitled to do. This place is for all sim enthusiasts to share their thoughts and experiences. It’s not a love-in. Other opinions are allowed.

Thank you Bert, regardless, I had made one of those comments and can see how it can upset people.

We Always have been 😉  It's not like this is our first rodeo 😉

FS9-FSX, FSX-P3D, P3D-P3D those were fun times, P3D-MSFS, MSFS-MSFS

We get this with every new release and inevitably the vast majority end up migrating in time anyway!  Took me 2 years to move from P3D to MSFS, I suspect the switch from 2020-2024 will be substantially quicker.

And we're allowed to have opinions of other people's opinions, right?

Yes and you can have that without necessarily expressing it publicly. What you must always do is respect others’ opinions even those you disagree with. Some posts don’t show that respect.

Seb, who is the CEO of Asobo said streaming was a necessity from a technical standpoint and he gave very good reasons why

What can you say against it if MS managers who recently jumped from a palm tree and are paying you a salary decided so.

One of the jörgs gang said recently they planned to have an option to download everything from the beginning. Who is lying? Asobo is lying to cover big MS boss(es) after the total fiasco.

So telling someone they formed an opinion because there are some facts they're not aware of is disrespectful?

What do you want from them if they recently banned me for offering to give the coordinates of Jorg's head office to ruzzian ICBM forces?

Did you personally make that person aware of the facts. I’m not getting into a debate with you. You are well aware of the rules in this forum.

I assume this is why they will be providing an option to download most of the assets to your local drive?

Just like they did with 2020. The only thing that's changed is that downloading is optional, not mandatory.

Let's cross our fingers. It will take them at least a month to make this option. And full of bugs as usual. Then it will turn out that all the standard edition planes are still encrypted. Not allowing third parties to create liveries for them. It will take a couple more months to sort it out.

What is different with mandatory streaming and that I personally do not like is the entire streaming architecture has changed how the sim itself behaves.

In 2020 if you were mid-flight and your connection dropped you got the offline message, online services disabled and you kept flying.

In 24 if you are mid flight and your connection drops the entire sim pauses, your flight stops and you sit there until your connections resumes AND you resume the flight.  It just pauses itself.

I would love to see the ability to continue to fly with 24 if I drop a connection mid-flight so I hope the "Library" enables this but with everything being streamed the only thing the sim can do is stop and wait.    I strongly dislike this personally.

I know there is a thread requesting an offline mode on the official forums for this very reason.

Does it pause properly, or does it use that daft "active pause"?
