Low Performance After the Last Patch(#3) 2024

Featured Replies

Ok my fellow aviators. I have been having great performance until the last patch. I was even impressed at how smooth it was. I have two computers. One with a I7 8086K at 5ghz with a 3080TI and another with a 7800x3d at 5ghz with a 4070. Both ran ms2024 well prior to the patch. I found the problem on my first flight after the patch going from KGPT to KMGM. Frames were horrible at the gate and it started pulsing quickly as I taxied. You get off the ground and away from the airport and the frames shoot from 30 to 80 at 100ft. It only happens at default airports unless in a career mode flight. Crazy because the performance is severely worst that 2020. I found two others with this issue and I told one that the network activity is pulsing when you check the task manager. The speed will not go above 100kb, but pulses between 100kb and 8kb. My speed is 2100 up and down. So I told one of the others with this issue and he said he is butter smooth at a locally installed airport. But the weird thing is that it's fine and pulls at higher stream speeds in career mode. Has anyone else seen this? On another note, I have only flown 2024 since it's release and now have a reason to go fly that 777F in 2020 now.

Just had the exact same issue.  The sim was almost rubber banding.  I didn't even try to takeoff.  Checking to see if any settings might have got bumped up post patch.  I know the default camera views

  • Good choice, if you want to use a working simulator the MSFS2020 in all aspects, is currently the best choice - IMO !!! cheers 😊

  • I am getting stutters where I didn't before.

I am getting stutters where I didn't before.

I never looked at my RAM usage before the patch, but I'm currenly cruising over Florida it's using 4.5GB out of 32GB of RAM, and 50% CPU usage

Probably more people giving 2024 another try after a few patches, which ultimately is overwhelming the cloud infrastructure. Just a guess.

That would be a good guess since it was fine previously.

Have you tried rebooting your PC since updating?

I initially experienced the same thing. I rebooted my PC and now I'm get the same if not better performance.

The card was 8G out of 12 and the system ram was 21 out of 32.

I am getting similar numbers..

Interesting post because I have experienced some weirdness that may be the same or similar since the update. It started as I flew into Luxor in Egypt. Just as I was about to touchdown the frame rate plummeted from a locked 60 to below thirty but it started pulsing and it felt like 1 frame per second. The coil whine on my graphics card was also pulsing as though the card was being turned on and off. It was unflyable and caused a hideous landing. I stopped and ended the flight immediately and then launched again to see if it had gone away. Same airport but this time I started at a parking spot. The issue was still there. I tried again at a different airport and it was fine. Tried again at Luxor at the same parking space and it did it again. I tried again but this time started on the runway and it was fine. Tried again at the previous parking spot and it happened again. Very very odd.

Eventually I started the next leg of my journey from the runway and the flight was perfectly fine but something about that airport caused this disturbing issue.

Interesting. This might explain why I haven't had an issue with career mode. It's certain airports that cause this problem. I will start trying different places to see. KGPT is a simple and small airport. Even with traffic fully off, it tanks.

From another 2024 performance thread: https://www.avsim.com/forums/topic/658397-smooth-as-silk-versus-stutter-festival/

"Turn your road and ai traffic to medium.  Mine got reset to ultra after last patch. Took mine from stutters after patch to silky smooth again. Try it, it’s easy, costs you nothing but about 10 seconds of time and you might be surprised."

I killed air/airport traffic, will kill the road traffic and try it.
