Low Performance After the Last Patch(#3) 2024

Featured Replies

I flew the Fenix out of FSimStudios CYVR last night and although the FPS were 40-50, I too had the pulsing or regular long pauses every second or so.

Just had the exact same issue.  The sim was almost rubber banding.  I didn't even try to takeoff.  Checking to see if any settings might have got bumped up post patch.  I know the default camera views

  • Good choice, if you want to use a working simulator the MSFS2020 in all aspects, is currently the best choice - IMO !!! cheers 😊

  • I am getting stutters where I didn't before.

From another 2024 performance thread: https://www.avsim.com/forums/topic/658397-smooth-as-silk-versus-stutter-festival/

"Turn your road and ai traffic to medium.  Mine got reset to ultra after last patch. Took mine from stutters after patch to silky smooth again. Try it, it’s easy, costs you nothing but about 10 seconds of time and you might be surprised."

Didn't work for me.

I find that departure through cruise to final approach is smooth but once I'm close to the arrival threshold the sim becomes a stutterfest.

Taxiing in is then a miserable experience to the gate.

Reading the official forums, this was a known issue for some that was fixed but somehow either didn't make it into the latest patch, or they did something to break it again.

I feel like an word not allowed for being an early adopter. I feel like a bigger word not allowed for springing for the premium deluxe package. 🙄 After the 2020 roll-out experience, the part of least resistance was clear, but FOMO wins every time it seems!

I was so pleased with 2024's performance until the last update, loaded quickly and no stutters. I went from consistent 2.5-minute loading times to 5 minutes and the last two days 7.5 minutes (hangs on loading the language). I'm getting a lot of stuttering whether near an airport or not, even miles away from any city. Vram stays around 50% usage and Ram around 60%, GPU usage at 85%, CPU at 20%, frame rates locked and steady at 30, empty community folder. Why does every fix that helps some people's issues always end up creating problems for people who had no problems? 😒

Low perfomance at the airports, but lowered the trees and the building to high, no more stutters now, finger crossed.

Missing the PMDG DC6 in MSFS 2024 (she's here, but...).

Yes I found a superb smooth sim..................................................................

Not sure what the root cause is of the terrible pulsing, but in my case I was able to fly again (no airport pulsing) by turning the "Global Rendering Quality" slider down to "Low", then raising some of the settings back up a wee bit.

TLOD is 50, OLOD is only 25, but clouds and trees etc. are medium and clouds are high.

Was able to have an enjoyable flight KSEA to KPAE in the default 737 Max.

Perhaps worth trying until they fix this (I have a 10900K and 3070 and 32 RAM)

The adaptive LOD mod works for me. I don't like the default settings in the app, so I changed them which is easy to do by clicking in the boxes and entering new numbers. It cured this stuttering when landing issue for me. You have 3 elevation choices in the app. I set all 3 elevations way down lower because the problem only occurs when way low down at airports.

Its a problem with the game, of course. Dev are aware but refuse a hot fix it.

This video is a great example.

Dev: "This issue has been fixed last week on our development branch - I have just integrated the changelist in the equivalent of the 1.2.7.0 branch and I can confirm that the hiccups (CPU/GPU) have gone at that airport.
Unfortunately I have no ETA yet for the next patch. :frowning:

Best regards,

Eric / Asobo"

  • Bad stutters
  • Poor ground textures in car park
  • Cars parked on grass verge
  • No visible wheels on departing AI plane
  • Shadow of AI plane flying in the opposite direction that presumably aborted landing because it was using the wrong runway approach

We still have some way to go before it becomes "as real as it gets"

** Please note that this is not me having a go at MSFS 2024. I am referring to MSFS in general.

I’m also getting stuttering whenever near or at an airport. What a crazy bug, since the number of objects can be much higher elsewhere.

Yep. Just had low fps out of the blue. Sometimes it just happened at the airport. After restarting, it went back to normal.
