December 14, 20241 yr Is there a setting in 2024 that makes the mountains look sharper (for lack of better terms)? I have seen some videos on Youtube and the mountains look different than 2020 to me and have more of a realistic sharpness to them; particularly the peaks. Could this just be the servers not rendering them well enough or do I need to adjust a setting? Flying out of Salt Lake City and Jackson Hole felt a little underwhelming to me. Still nice, but not like what I have seen. I felt it looked like 2020 still. Any suggestions? December 14, 20241 yr 2024 has higher DEM (basically more mesh resolution). | My Liveries | FAA ZMP | PPL ASEL | | Windows 11 | MSI Z690 Tomahawk | 12700K 4.7GHz | MSI RTX 4080 | 64GB 6000 MHz DDR5 | 500GB Samsung 860 Evo SSD | 2x 2TB Samsung 970 Evo M.2 | EVGA 850W Gold | Corsair 5000X | HP G2 (VR) / LG 27" 1440p |
December 14, 20241 yr The setting is terrain LOD, but it also depends on the mountains: certain areas have lower resolution mesh than others. 7800X3D | 2x32 GB DDR5-6000 CL32 | RTX 5080 | Alienware OLED 34" | 1 Gbps fiber
December 14, 20241 yr I've gone back to 2020 with Map Enhancement. Flying around the Western Cape in 2024 it just looks like low resolution blur and mush with a capable system, LOD of 100-150, dynamic OFF. Absolutely not what I expected from the latest sim. Funny, I've never seen any blurries in 2024 no matter what area I fly in. I am still thinking about upgrading to 2024. At least the ORBX Cape Town City pack is compatible at no additional fee... Johan Pienaar

It all seems a bit low res past a few miles away from the aircraft and performs like a drain. I went straight back to 2020. However, I'm just one person and many report it looks way better for them.

I had blurry textures during the first few weeks. I then uninstalled, re-downloaded and haven't seen one since. I simply can't go back now. It has its bugs, many of them - but for me, it's superior in every way. Your statement that it is blurry a few miles away from the aircraft doesn't hold up either. December 15, 20241 yr I spent my time in 2024 today flying around Mallorca - a place I know very well indeed. I was able to check out many of the climbs I’ve done over the years whilst on spring training camps. Many of these were instantly recognisable and the Island topography was spot on. areas of the world will vary depending on data quality - but generally 2024 is amazing imo at its portrayal of reality.
