This review perfectly sums up MSFS 2024

Cheers, Reggie (Cockney Gamer) xxx

Thx for the comments, I recall another Toober getting ripped to shreds here earlier this year (mention no names 😇) but I think you'll be OK as your head isn't up your own Microsoft GamePass.

Btw, your font here matches your style. Nice touch hehe.

As usual it's the customer's fault for wanting to use features that he has paid for and that Asobo promised to have developed and improved 🙂

Don't use traffic, don't use ATC, don't use career... anything else?

A question to those who describe videos they disagree with as “clickbait”.

Presumably you describe them as that because you disagree with the content.

But if you agreed with another with an attention-seeking title would you describe that as clickbait?

Just curious. 😉

People here seem to get 'confused' real easy these days and swap trendy terms freely even when non-applicable.

To me 'clickbait' is similar to 'bait and switch'. To me this means a video/web page link had a deliberately controversial or hyperbolic title to lure viewers in but the content itself doe NOT contain what's in the title.

Example would be "Brutal facts about aliens that will shock you!!" Then the actual page/video would be some bloke who just reads out a Time review of E.T. .

In this case the word 'PATHETIC' pretty much sums up the review so it's NOT clickbait imo but it does take a while to get going and has a lot of positive observations in there ( the first 7 mins!) so there is definitely some hedging of bets going to encourage discussion in the comments.

I WILL say that the quality of AVSIM thread titles has nosedived over the last few years. Vague wording that tells you nothing UNLESS you visit the thread is very poor imo (actually getting sick of using IMO at all as you still get hammered!)

The Daily Mail being the classic example! 😉

Titles need to be interesting to attract attention but also meaningful. An interesting title doesn’t equate to clickbait but an attention-grabbing one with unusual words could easily qualify.

There are those who will always defend the indefensible. They won’t change so just let it flow over you. 😉

Good point. Yes, this is also a clickbait video for me, as even the author has admitted 🙂

I didn't watch it because I know very well FS2024 issues anyway, having spent already 65 hours with it but the word pathetic sounds rather disrespectful.

I watched it even though I don’t own it. You should. It’s quite entertaining and well balanced. You might change your opinion.

Yes, but it was a memorable fiasco at day 1, and now the customers are waiting for a working sim. But Fs24 has good potential, but what a mess...

Missing the PMDG DC6 in MSFS 2024 (she's here, but...).

Honestly, No.  I haven't watched the video, and have no interest in doing so, strictly because of the thumbnail with the word "PATHETIC" in large eye-catching font.  I'm always up for a well-balanced, humorous and thoughtful review, but that's getting off on the wrong foot isn't it.  So in my mind, I file it away with all the other gaming-oriented videos made by YouTubers who are looking for clicks, views, likes, subs and whatever else elevates their status or monetization through negativity.

Instead of watching the video I did the usual to save time - just read the first coupla posts and then went straight to the last page here to see where the conversation ended up, for entertainment's sake.  I was pleasantly surprised to see an honest question among the 6th-page bickering so here's your honest answer.

I'm gonna say this hear even though it's mostly off topic.

For me the most absolutely annoying trend about news 'headlines' I absolutely DETEST is the the following. I ALWAYS refuse to click on them even though it is very hard not to! (see curiosity killed the cat)

Example:

"This Beatles song made Hendrix cry"

or

"Simple trick to lose weight!"

In the first they could easily put name of song in title then you wouldn't even bother to click it. In 2nd the trick is..,.wait for it EAT LESS FOOD.

Again title could have been "Eat less food to lose weight!".

This tactic is EVERYWHERE even on the BEEB!

I guess you turn everything off ,and don't load any aircraft, it works pretty good. 😉

Haha, I’ve no idea how I did that! I copied it over from iPhone notes so maybe something funky happened. I should have gone full on and done it in Comic Sans.

Also extra points for you for making up your own Cockney rhyming slang on “gamepass”. Kudos.

People look back at 2020 as some flawless gem of beauty. Memories must be short since pretty much every SU, AAU, and WU (even pre 24 announcement) had multiple threads about how this and that is broken, doesn't anyone test this stuff, etc. And let us all not forget the national nightmare of having to hit ALT-ENTER for a while to get back to full screen. Every year, a delagation from AVSIM will gather together and lay a wreath in commemoration of the date the suffering ended.

Now, of course any 2020 faults will be laid squarely on the feet of 2024, Much like all the non-2024 related issues that have come up in 2020.

I am a big advocate of 2024 and found the review largely balanced actually. Out of the gate, you can tell he tried to really like it.

We all knew even if the launch went well it was going to be a long while before a lot of people could fully move over to 24. Unless you fly the Fenix, a300, and RJ the most, the offerings are slim for airliners. If one flies the 737 the most, they can't move over to 24 unless they subject themselves to the horror that is the Asobo MAX. And let me tell you, that MAX after being used to the iFLY/PMDG is like favoring a good lager and then drinking Pabst. But yet, people going back to 2020 to fly an airplane one cannot fly in 2024 yet is an indication of a failure of 2024s launch.

Yet, people point out things in 24 that are a problem in 2020. "The default airplanes stink" has been a thing for 4 years in 2020, yet now in 24 I guess people expected they'd work. Somehow, the overall "meh" response to most of the local legends and famous flyers over the years wasn't enough of a cautionary tale. And those were the planes they actually cared about.

The sim right now is not in a bad place. I also wouldn't say it's in a great place. But, like most things, it depends on what you want from a sim how well you will fare. Waiting until more 3rd party planes one uses is a sound strategy, as is just waiting for the first SU.

Come on, be honest:

How can you say that people are seeing "entirely different levels of stability and performance"? Let's say that the experience can range from frustrating to entirely broken by the bugs.

Just my 5 cents since I agree with Fielder’s point of view.

I’ve had very little issues with the new sim (after the first week or so), but I suspect this is largely due to how I use it. I only fly a few aircraft (Fenix, RJ, Cows DA42, Bonanza G36 and a few more). I did however try quite of few of the default aircraft initially, and that wasn’t a great experience.

I don’t use default ATC, AI aircraft or career mode. I have a high end system, and I use AutoFPS to manage TLOD. In the first week, I had lots of issues with blurry/missing textures, PG objects not being rendered fully, bandwidth issues - but I honestly haven’t had any of these lately. Performance seems much better than 2020.

Having said that, I raged quitted the sim once after spending more than 30 minutes trying to remove the A330 engine covers 😵

And btw - I just watched the video. Loved it! Great humor but also some very valid points. Just because I haven’t experienced many of these issues myself, I don’t doubt for a second that others have.
