December 26, 20241 yr Yesterday 2024 was working perfectly. My Bravo Quadrant profile was exactly as I wanted. I could walk around, bend down, remove engine covers...etc. I did a nice flight around Bryce Canyon with great scenery. Landed at Bryce Canyon, took a walking tour of the airport and then gracefully shutdown the Skyhawk and ended the sim normally. My Thrust Master A320 flight stick worked a dream. My keyboard acted as if it knew what I wanted. Today I return to Bryce Canyon and the Skyhawk. ALL, yes ALL my custom profiles for the Bravo have vanished. I cannot move around the aircraft. Even the default keyboard and mouse profiles will not allow me to move around the aircraft. Shift-C gets me in and out but nothing allows me to move. I can remove most of the Skyhawk covers, chocks, but nothing I do allows me to remove the engine covers. The little hand appears when I touch the cover but it does not move. And, I suddenly developed horrible stutters looking around the cockpit. And, the sim needed 5' 45" to load with only three items in the Community folder. And then it needed another 59" to go from the main menu to Ready to Fly. The sim spent 150 seconds spinning it's wheels with the screen showing 14% VFS Activate - during that time the sim read almost nothing from any hard drive and did almost no network I/O. One CPU was 85% busy and the others were idle. Only the main thread was running and all other threads were Ready or User Input wait. It seems that every time I get 2024 working properly and feel like I can make it my regular sim - I have a day like this where I basically have to start over programming controls and debugging actions. Maybe, as others point out, it is early days and I am expecting way too much for a sim that cost only $129. When it is good - it is great but today makes me regress to the stability of 2020. I realize I may be asking an obvious question, but just to double-check: When you click the arrows to select profiles, they aren't there when you scroll back and forth? I've seen it want to swap back to a default profile. 2 minutes ago, TacomaSailor said: It seems that every time I get 2024 working properly and feel like I can make it my regular sim - I have a day like this where I basically have to start over programming controls and debugging actions. I'm with you on this one. I've had good days, then a flight where it stutters on landing. I guess after is actually downloads stuff, the next flight is fine. But I've run into some of this with 3rd party airports local to my machine.
December 26, 20241 yr The last week or so the sim loaded within 2.5 minutes. Yesterday it was a total mess, taking 6 minutes. I am thinking the cloud infrastructure was slammed because everyone was home for Christmas. Probably a lot of people off today and tomorrow playing as well. Three suggestions… 1. Falcon BMS 2. X-Plane 12 3. MSFS 2020 Bonus suggestion: 4. AeroFly FS 4 7950X3D | RTX 4090 | 96GB DDR5 | 4K G-Sync | Win11 Pro

I can fully understand what you mean, the other day I had a couple of lovely flights but today it's been a shower of <word not allowed!>. Was earlier descending into France and the ground textures/trees/buildings refused to render, this evening not much better with large stutters and the terribly frustrating VR Menu/Mouse bug which just drained all the energy from me to the point I just sat there and wondered..."Why?" Thankfully I'm at work tomorrow so I won't be tempted to "try again" for the 100th time, but that's the thing, there's something that always calls me back to keep trying in some sort of desperate hope that it all stitches together, but ultimately it never does. I think a return to 2020 is needed for a few weeks until MS/Asobo get their act together and time to enjoy A N Other Flight Sim that I purchased recently, playing other games entirely is a good way to de-stress from this mess and with ACEvo on the horizon as well that's an added distratcion. No excuses, it's a very poor game in it's current form, far far too many issues, unstable servers (still) but there is still a small grain of hope that they manage to get there, if only they declared it Early Access to start with eh?! December 27, 20241 yr For MSFS2020 and MSFS2024, I save a backup copy of the following files from each sim's respective LocalCache folders: UserCfg.opt FlightSimulator.cfg ( called FlightSimulator2024.cfg for MSFS2024) EXE.xml Content.xml Cameras.cfg and also the wgs folder which is in each sim's SystemsAppData folder. The wgs folder apparently holds the controller profiles. These are all small in size. Then, when for some unknown reason the sim removes all my settings (like it did today after the AIRAC update), I shut the sim down and paste the saved files and wgs folder into the LocalCache and SystemsAppData folder and restart the sim. The sim then ask me if I want to use the "OLDer" local files or the newer files from the Cloud. I choose the "OLDer" files, the sim does a resync, and I'm pretty much back to where I was before the sim tried to change everything. I can't claim to know all the details involved with each of the above files, but this procedure seems to work for me. Al Edited December 27, 20241 yr by ark

I can find all the files you mention but am unable to locate the wgs folder. None of my search engines find such a folder (I am a Steam version of MSFS 2024) I have looked very carefully in AppData but am not familiar with SystemsAppData - can you provide a fully qualified path name? Thanks for the suggestion and help - being able to backup my control profiles would be great - The Bravo has 49 buttons and redoing all those is a bother. December 28, 20241 yr Hold on. Bryce Canyon scenery works in 2024? Maybe someone here can confirm if the Steam versions of the sims have or don't have a wgs folder. I used search everything to scan all my drives ( e.g. SystemAppData C:\ folder: ) and it finds 152 folders with the SystemAppData name. NONE of them are associated with MSFS 2024. Can someone verify the Steam version of MSFS 2024 uses the SystemAppData folder? I don't have the Steam version of MSFS2024, but in case it helps, my wgs folder is here: C:\Users\myName\AppData\Local\Packages\Microsoft.Limitless_8wekyb3d8bbwe\SystemAppData I cannot find \Microsoft.limitless... in my C:\Users\myName\AppData\Local\Packages. I find no Microsoft folder associated with MSFS 2024 in ...\Local\Packages I do find \Packages in C:\Users\myName\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024 but that folder only contains folders for Community, Official 2020. Official 2024, TDS-GTNXi-Gauge I am pretty handy with a variety of Windows 11 folder/file search methods and apps and none find a folder beginning with WGS. Is the folder literally named WGS.something? If so what is the extension? December 29, 20241 yr For Steam try searching for a folder named "2537590" ... for me this is under a folder called "userdata". As I now have Steam on multiple drives this "userdata" folder is not on the same drive as my MSFS2024 installation ... so you may have to hunt around a little if you also have Steam on multiple drives. Anyway, you will find folders for controller setups, logbook, etc under this numerical folder. I believe "2537590" is the steam App ID for MSFS2024 ... you can find same config folders for MSFS2020 under "1250410". Save these folders as a backup in case your settings get corrupted. Cheers!
