I walked away from MSFS simulator this morning, realizing that both MSFS 2020 and 2024 look dismally and universally bad. But before you go bunkers, please let me try to explain why. While both simulators look great within a short distance, anything beyond 10 miles looks unrealistic and distorted. This is also true with maxed-out graphics settings and a 4K OLED resolution monitor. The underlying reality is that when you’re up in the air, the distant horizon should look credible and compelling, not blurry, saturated, and distorted. Despite all the flaws and pain FSX gave us, we could at least enjoy looking into the distance. When I fly in 2020 or 2024, I try not to look too far out because all immersion is lost if I do. 

I hope Asobo recognizes the issue and is willing to correct it. I will not bother posting pictures because you guys can see for yourself.

All to say that I am growing disillusioned with each passing day.

I must have played a different version of FSX if that's the yard stick for visual excellence in distant rendering.

It’s been years since I last played FSX, but my recollection is that it wasn’t too bad. But my main point is the disappointment I feel in the visuals rendered in the distance, in both 2020 and 2024. Coming in for the landing, 12 miles out, it should look credible, not flurry and distorted.

Yes even on settings at 400 it's not good at all. Hikers don't worry about adjustments. The trees are tall enough.

You must use a different sim to mine, because I am always amazed how sharp the scenery is out to the horizon (weather permitting).

Yes, trees taller than buildings, hyper saturated green colors on the mountains (never mind the bluriness)

Is it just me or is the OP's post font HUGE? Maybe this is why the simulator looks so bad on your monitor, maybe check your zoom percentage?

I sense that for a small group of you even the slightest criticism of flight simulation triggers the most vile response. I hate to have to say this, but you give me the awful impression that your entire life revolves around this thing. There is more to life than flight simulation.

Funny, I get the same impression about a small group that is machinegunning out daily threads telling us how bad MSFS is, 2024 is, poll number 12 this week about 2020 vs 2024, patting each other on the back when you agree how bad the sim is. You get the feeling none of you actually enjoy flight simming, just the constant complaining, every single day and then being upset when people are positive.
