Beyond 10 miles

I attached three pictures: one from the real airplane inbound to BOS for runway 4

Exactly, you attached a photo taken with a camera, not an image from the Mk.1 Eyeball.

Real life eyeball LOD is subjective / personal and can’t easily be represented by a photo.

When I fly in 2020 or 2024, I try not to look too far out because all immersion is lost if I do.

I hope Asobo recognizes the issue and is willing to correct it. I will not bother posting pictures because you guys can see for yourself.

All to say that I am growing disillusioned with each passing day.

I just completed a flight from Avalon, Catalina to LAX, even though over casted sky's I was able to make out the port of Long Beach 15 miles out and everything was sharpe as a tack. Maybe resetting your sim to the default settings and try again.

I did fly over the area he did earlier at around the time setting in 24. I took some video but AutoFPS was doing its thing since I forgot to close it. My TLOD/OLD were much lower than his, but I liked the results. I don't really care if anyone is happy/unhappy/disbelieving I liked the results.

I still think Washington DC in photogrammetry (observed from 2000 to 5000 feet) looks fantastic. It’s my favorite city to fly into and out of in MSFS. I enjoy Washington because I live here, and because as you approach runway 19, you are able to take a clear view of the three most power buildings in the world (The White House, Capitol Hill, and the Pentagon). 10 miles out though, it’s a mess.

Which, to be fair, is 1000% an illegal visual since it's restricted airspace. The river visual into R19 is a total blast to fly as well.

Yeah, you do that....🤣 IN the mean time, maybe you should just skip lecturing people, and if you don't like it  here, you can always just wave goodbye.

…and thus you prove his point.

I think that the reason people object is because you say that as an absolute statement of fact, assuming that what happens on your own particular MSFS computer applies to every single MSFS 2020 or 2024 installation without exception.

I'm not sure what details you can pick IRL with naked eye beyond 10 miles? Perhaps some silhouettes of the distance prominent land mark such as mountain, snow caps, clouds, smoke LOL  There is a reason METAR never report visibility more than 10 miles  because anything beyond this nobody cares LOL

@sd_flyer you need to move away from the mountains and remote areas so we can appreciate what  the sim really looks like.

MS 2024 is far from perfect (heck, I have lost the interior views of a lot of my addon airplanes because of some LOD problem I cannot figure out), but at distance in the air, it is better than 2020, and the comparison to FSX I thought for sure was pure trolling.

I have personally stood on the mountains west of Malaga many times and looked towards the city, and I can tell you that MS2024 is the closest I have ever seen that view replicated realistically on a monitor screen. Make what you will of that real life to sim comparison.

Darn !! Finished all my popcorn 🤥

Why do we need to do this? Why are mountains and remote areas not also valid benchmarks for how good or bad things look? Why are they not representative of what the sim "really looks like"? Is it not what the sim "really looks like" at that location? I enjoy the mountains and remote areas just as much, if not more than the populated areas.

I wasn’t trying to upset anyone, but if they took offense over comments made about a game, I am not going to apologize. Their reaction is comical.
