You still haven't understood the problem with the subject and that's the whole drama. Everyone knows that FS2024 is visually beautiful.

Is it?  I haven't installed 2024 yet. Those shots are from 2020.

The OP framed 'the problem' as essentially poor LOD from 10 mi out to the horizon.  He was referring to both 2020 and 2024.  In his words:  "both MSFS 2020 and 2024 look dismally and universally bad."  Not everyone sees this issue the way the OP and you apparently do.  For starters:  when looking thru acrylic windscreens, serious atmospheric haze and perhaps most of all when looking at a 34" screen where 'out to the horizon' implies you're now relying on a few pixels to convey detail, it's completely reasonable to remove some of the performance burden of higher LOD from 10 miles out and make that available so that the rest of the sim is visually beautiful.

What I fully believe re both the OP and you is that neither of you appreciates what MS/Asobo has to grapple with:  they have performance and budget considerations that neither of you seem to appreciate.  Developing for Xbox wasn't optional it was a necessary stop to make the whole project doable.  It's super easy to see what's wrong and I'll put it to you again this way:  what DO YOU wish to sacrifice so that you can have better detail out to the horizon?  No can rob Peter to Pay Paul.

It's like I mentioned some 50 posts back - compromises have to be made somewhere. 11 miles is not far - but still far enough for current hardware to struggle with fully rendering PG buildings. Much closer, a TLOD of 200 should be sufficient for the buildings to be rendered fully. I'm not even sure if OP has clarified if we're talking about PG here - or autogen buildings. I wouldn't know about the latter, since I always have PG on.

I doubt that it has anything to do with autogen buildings. The scenery looks great on my PC out to the horizon in full autogen mode.

I will say that if I was NOT attention seeking and did NOT want my post on Avsim to blow up with multiple daily notifications that I would be compelled to answer despite saying I did not care what people thought anyway although I kind of did because when I got someone to agree with me I displayed some obvious relief/satisfaction

THEN

I would NOT make a post saying something like....."Both Asobe sims are terrible they look like someone threw up on the floor!"

No. I would NOT make a post like that.

No, can't work that out. Too clever for me. 🤔

I show the same problem the OP had using Autogen in my screenshots of New York.

How about a video or screenshots of the problem as mentioned (New York area buildings) from your setup?

Would you mind re-posting the screenshot? It's interesting that autogen is also affected. I did some tests in 2020 with TLOD and OLOD, and could not figure out what affects the draw distance of autogen.

At the moment, I've turned PG off in 2024, after using it pretty much 100% since the release of 2024. Reason: I've ran into some freak stutters and VRAM overflow in several PG-areas.

To be fair though, most buildings in MSFS are autogen so you must see them unless you only fly over PG cities.

Yeah. I was just wondering what affects the draw distance of autogen.
