MSFS 2024, flying off California coast line, it's amazing!

I can clearly see cities (not buidling but road, terrain etc for at least 80 miles.  From SAX which is a waypoint ~ 20 miles from KEWR I can see the Belt Parkway on the other side of the city meandering around JFK and I495 heading out onto Long Island across the city.

That has to be one of the most fascinating experiences in flight simulation, to be able to see a road 80 miles away? Looks like many people here are seeing things I am unable to see.

Pics or it didn't happen right....
I don't take a lot of screenshots but here is one from my current flight looking down at the Garden State Parkway departing KEWR.  The coastline is probably 35 miles away in this shot.  It all looks pretty good to me. This is 2020

The second is approaching Miami in the 737, no idea when I took this but what struck me was how I could see basically every major road all the way to the Everglades "clearly" and even see the road well south of the city of Miami heading down to the Keys which is probably 40-50 miles away until it trails off into the distance.  These are just random shots, my sim always looks this crisp all the way to the horizon at 3,000 ft and 200 kts or 38,000 feet and 550 kts...

Thanks for sharing the pictures.

On the first picture, not sure I can see a road anywhere. I see a lot of clouds and the terrain below it. But even if I were able to see it,  I don’t think you’re 80 miles away from the visible terrain.

As for the second picture, it’s night time. You can actually see a well lit highway from vast distances.

Nice screenshots!

Really??? You can’t see the streets and roads?

I think the issue may be elsewhere if you can’t even see them in that screenshot - you seriously can’t see them at all??

Like not asking you to like the sim or the pic or whatever .. you legitimately cannot even see the roads?

And nary a blurry texture as far as the eye can see....

On my phone now, the picture is small. I’ll take a look at it from my monitor. But as I mentioned, that visible ground is not 80 miles away.

That's just the only night screenshot I had and one from my current flight.  Yesterday I did a 12 hour flight and was crossing the Greek Isles and the Alps.  My comment about 80 miles was that "everywhere" I looked as far as the horizon allowed I could see the roads in every valley and on every Island and Mountainside all the way to the Horizon and as I mentioned I was also able to see I-4 all the way to the West Coast of Florida and Tampa Bay at FL380 from the EAST coast of Florida as well as a clearly defined Tampa Bay...   That's probably farther than 80 miles...

Okay I’m not arguing about whether you like 2024 or whatever, I was just amazed that you couldn’t see the roads.

Please continue.

Ahh, got it now. Some remarkable stuff there. I wish I could see on my sim what you’re able to see in yours.

Truly fascinating. I commend you for completing a 12 hour flight

One of the pups is at the animal hospital and I'm recovering from a fusion so needed to do something to fill the hours while I built the Lego Mercedes F1 car...

I'm doing KMIA-KEWR now and I'll try to grab some more shots and then post in a separate thread so as to not further hijack this one but I truly have crisp defined textures all the way to the horizon even at FL 380... It looks almost identical to what my real world photos traversing the globe look like at times...  The clarity fades into the horizon naturally.  Unfortunately my current flight is real world time so the sun is  quite low in the sky so it's not so conducive to long distance viewing but for me the most important thing is it looks clear and crisp and a relative representation of what I would see in the real world everywhere I look all the way to the horizon (2020)  Even the not being able to see and having that want to put your hand up to the sun to get a clearer look feel...

That's more important than the actual miles.

Apologies to the OP for the derailment.  Please resume

I wish you a speedy recovery. It sounds pretty painful. If you have to be in a sedentary state, what could possibly be better than flight simulation?

I am glad you are having a very immersive experience in MSFS 2020. I personally haven’t had the same experience but perceptions of things can be very subjective.

I was very excited when 2020 came out. I purchased a high-end Alienware computer, a new desk, chair etc. But then all the glitches began to emerge, and I grew disillusioned with the sim. I abandoned the sim for three years, and went back recently  only to find out many of the problems still persist.

If Asobo can’t repair these issues, time for another long break again. I usually fly for about an hour early morning while I drink my coffee. I simply don’t have the time to spend hours trying to repair the simulator.

Last month, my sim was stuck in looking for updates, finally got in, and all my settings were deleted. It never ends.

In many ways, true statement.
