In fact looking deep into all of your commentary so far I've gone from somewhat sympathetic to your plight to believing you're likely doing this in order to get a rise out of Avsim users.

Yeah, I was helping him in the beginning before realizing that he doesnt' want help with the sim, just wants to complain instead of looking for solutions. I did the same thing you did 😄

  • Ah, right on time.

Don’t have much time to reply to all the comments other than to say I am busy trying to fix the stutters. If I can’t, I will delete the sim again as I did three years ago. I do enjoy a little of bit of occasional simming but I can live without it.

Sounds like you have too much undervalued free time on your hands. No way I would put myself through this.

Every hour of flying  requires 2 hours of repairs, so it seems.

Glad you guys are happy with your sims, I truly mean it.

I know right? Sounds like the seventh circle of hell if it’s this bad. I would have dumped software this bad ages ago and moved on to things that work and make me happy instead of mad!

For anyone deciding whether to buy 2024, it is cheaper at CD Keys. When you buy it shows you that exact place on Xbox to enter the key (Xbox store has a box for all discount keys, including the ones at CDKEYS). Their instructions are pictures and text, there is no mystery how to use the key that you have bought.

Example, I paid $150 instead of $200 for Aviators edition.

Premium Deluxe is $92 instead of $130

And so forth.

My 2020 msfs was with steam. My cdkeys 2024 Aviators was Xbox store, not Steam. When I used the key at Xbox store, it installed and a popup came up from MS saying that they recognized by gamertag and everything that I had purchased from the Steam 2020 marketplace would carry over to 2024 Xbox edition (cdkeys). And they all did, no problem.

Honestly if I were so frustrated I would have quit a long ago and this is someone who went through the troubles of dealing of FSX for a decade+. Maybe its time to take a walk or find something more pleasant to do. Take a deep breath for a minute as no software should cause this much trouble, not worth it for the health.

JBDB-MD80 - Many simmers are equally frustrated with flight simulation.  It is arguably the most complex and demanding game in existence. It often behaves in strange and perplexing ways, giving even the most experienced simmer a run for their money.

I have indeed taken long breaks from flight simulation since I started the hobby 25 years ago. My last break was from 2021-2024.  I still remember vividly in 2021 how the sim kept crashing, and I said, I am simply done with this thing (put the controls away and deleted the software).

I'll try the Nvidia 5090 next month, but I promise you that performance will likely remain an issue.

I am beginning to suspect that performance issues have nothing to do with hardware, and everything to with Asobo's server.  I have read reports of stuttering even with 4090 graphics cards.

I don't hate the game; in fact, I find it very relaxing when it works.

Cheers!

Probably because most people only post something online when things are going bad... While most others are enjoying things in sweet and peaceful silence.

Really?  This has to one of the most garbage arguments out there.  Go and look at the most positive titles on Steam.  They have THOUSANDS of positive reviews and VERY FEW negative.  So it just goes to show when something is REALLY GOOD people absolutely post their positive reviews.

Indiana Jones has something like the TOTAL amount of FS2024 reviews as POSITIVE reviews.  All positive.

So please stop with this people only post when they have something negative to say, it's debunked by the data and the plethora of positive reviews for titles that EARN them and is an absolute cop out to simply dismiss the negativity reviews even when they are valid in some cases.

Very true. And of course the vast majority of users don't go to forums like this. Even the 'complaints' on the official forums are mainly just the same issues repeated ad nauseum by the same few people. Sometimes I think the users here think they are the community instead of just a tiny, tiny very noisy fraction of the total who have the time and ego to post in a pointless forum thread. And yes, I include myself in that group 🙂

Hmmm.... I'm not sure that you can compare the very discriminating customer base of MSFS with other games.  ie. it is .... after all.... a simulator, and as such; attributes and performance are easily comparable to everyone's reality.

I'm not familiar with the game you mentioned "Indiana Jones", but I strongly suspect it is not simulating a real person living in a real world. 🙂

Hardware: i7-8700k, GTX 1070-ti, 32GB ram, NVMe/SSD drives with lots of free space.
Software: latest Windows 10 Pro, P3Dv4.5+, FSX Steam, and lots of addons (100+ mostly Orbx stuff).

Ummm. I can assure you that NOBODY on the planet is more discriminating than the serious 'gamer'. WAYYY too discriminating in fact! Very fickle too. Back to your claim though, I'd have to disagree that the AVERAGE customer base of the Asobe sims is way more discriminating than that of normal video games. There are very few sims so you HAVE to stay and play even if it's broken. With a faulty game there are thousands of alternatives to use.

Absolutely can say with conviction that 2020/2024 are nowhere near doing that either.

Euro Truck Simulator does it pretty well actually. Asobe should have just copied that template.

True, but 2020/2024 is as real as it gets compared to others.

So does the racing game Forza Horizon, by the way. I'm sure there are others. But, I don't think you can compare Euro Truck Simulator with Microsoft Flight Simulator. Simulating driving is much easier than simulating flying.  I bet millions of drivers will agree with that statement.

If you're talking car racing simulation then no, but that's a whole other argument! But either way it's pointless comparing driving to flying simulation, the actual flying is easy for me it's the learning of systems/ATC/charts/etc that I find harder.
