January 23, 20251 yr Storm Eowyn. Tonight and into Friday. Think it might miss me in the Channel Islands.
January 23, 20251 yr Moderator It will miss the CIs. Not poor Ireland though which will take a battering. My highest gust this year is 31mph back on NYD. That will go tonight but whether it will set a new record beating 65mph back in Feb 2020 is unknown. Pressure now dropping quickly. Later it will drop very rapidly. Ray (Cheshire, England). January 23, 20251 yr This is not the kind of weather I would ever want to fly in hence I've cancelled my visit to Popham today! However thanks to MS2024 I can go flying...and promptly crash. This is me at St Mary's airfield on the Scilly Isles. My 152 was blown BACKWARDS off the runway and into these trees. Not sure how realistic that is...still it's an expensive virtual repair! January 23, 20251 yr We had it yesterday. Record snowfalls along the Gulf coast states from Texas to Florida and as far north as the Carolinas. We just got cold mornings where it dropped to 10 degrees F a couple of mornings ago, But the clear skies and sunshine got us to the 40s and 50s (F) by mid afternoon. Noel The tires are worn. The shocks are shot. The steering is wobbly. But the engine still runs fine.

Noel We got down to 0F here in TN. Not a record, but still very cold. The Winters here over the past several years are getting colder and actually the climate is returning to the way it was pre-1980s when it got quite cold and snowed every year, often with snow at Christmas time. A lot of people from the northern States have been moving south to North and South Carolina, Georgia, and Tennessee for a couple decades now for a variety of reasons, one of which is to escape the bad Winters which are getting colder. I am always amused at many northerners who move to TN only to discover that it gets pretty cold here, too. Not quite as cold and not for as long as upstate New York, for example, but it ain't the "warm South" like they thought it would be. A lot of people are realizing that the relatively warm period we experienced for the past 40 years is over. Milton, Florida (in the panhandle) received 13" of snow. Brutally cold as well. Fr. Bill AOPA Member: 07141481 AARP Member: 3209010556 Avsim Board of Directors | Avsim Forums Moderator
