10 Reasons I LUV 2024

Featured Replies

And this is just the beginning.. looking forward to SU2 and beyond, and when the major 3rd party devs have gotten more familiar with developing for MSFS 2024 and its SDK , and take full advantage of the new capabilities in flight/ground dynamics and other aspects. Gonna be a fun ride 🙂

As many others have said, first 2020, and now 2024 is providing me the best flight simming experience I've ever had, and by a fair margin above all other platforms I've used (which is pretty much all of them). With 2024 I finally don't have to compromise in one aspect of simming vs another, and really can't think of *any* aspect other sim platforms do better IMO. I guess I had less of a messy entry into 2024 given that I got it around 3 weeks after release, but for a software system this complex it is providing for a pretty darn compelling experience three months after release.

The pieces and base foundation is there for MSFS 2024 to unanimously become the best civilian flight sim ever. It’s just that the release and the bugs  was a bit of a setback. But the same could

SDKs always take some time to evolve.  Devs are also involved so look for some needed improvements.

I'll add, I read the complaints about the MSFS 2024 user interface for 6 weeks before actually purchasing it, and I was prepared for something much worse than what I actually experienced. There was a learning curve, sure, but it wasn't half as bad as I was expecting.

Just bring back FLOW Pro for word not alloweds sake !!

Despite owning 2024 since day 1, I'm only now tinkering with it.

I love the ground detailing, new trees and new lighting.

I don't like the convoluted UI and menu's.  Even just selecting a specific livery is more of a chore.

It is interesting... There are two parties. The ones who really like and ones who have 2024 but use 2020... Where is the sweet spot? I still don't have 2024. Because the initial release has brought a lot of issues. But reading through some posts and topics 50% are happy with 2024 and 50% are not... Confusing 🙂

Not really. You just need to decide. It's not a life changing decision, it's not a massive amount of money, you don't need to set a few weeks aside. It's just like deciding what to have for dinner and if you might want to try something new. If you don't like it you can go back to tomato soup tomorrow. Why is it confusing?

For those of us who have zero to minimal dealbreakers with 2024, we are either exclusively using 2024 or are also keeping 2020 around to fly certain aircraft not compatible/native to 2024 yet (in my case it's around 90+% on 2024 and finding it harder and harder to go back to 2020 after using 2024 🙂).

Only you can decide what dealbreakers if any 2024 has for you, and likely won't know until trying it yourself (MS/XBox gamepass is one cheap barrier to entry). If you think you will eventually for sure use 2024, then as long as hard drive space is not  a problem there is no harm in getting into MSFS 2024 now (especially with SU1) and keeping 2020 around. 2024 also doesn't take up too much hard drive space given its more cloud-centric architecture.

The core sim is amazing and I'm really glad - like OP, I'm super happy that this sim is already so great and will only get better. They need to fix various things, but the core sim experience, the world, the weather, the lighting, the flight model (yes yes I have read all the opinions, but in MY opinion I like it for my purposes - I'm not a r/w pilot)..all that is amazing.

Yeah, why is this confusing? Not like buying a new car .. all you need to do is pick up a Gamepass trial for $1, install 2024 (it takes minutes instead of hours.. i love this), and try it out yourself. You can always go back to 2020.

Like many 2024 users, I have not experienced deal breaking bugs since the first week after release. Those bugs I have experienced are far outweighed by the advances 2024 has made over 2020. With SU1 beta 3, the world and atmosphere presented in 2024 are simply stunning - 2020 is showing its age in this regard.

For me:

BETTER

Flight dynamics and aircraft performance

Lighting

Mesh accuracy and resolution

Installation

WORSE

Performance

ATC

AI Traffic (both aircraft and ships)

Stability

SAME

In most of the areas I fly, the scenery looks no better, though the mapping is more up to date in many places and ground textures are better in some places.

My performance is better in 2024 personally, a lot of places I get ~25% more FPS.

Define stability?
