  • Yep I just did this.  Exited the beta, waited for it to say Join again, then rebooted PC. Wiped LOL! It's way beyond a laughing matter.  I've been one of the few to defend this sim but what

Kind of funny seeing a highly successful gaming company totally screw their helpful/unpaid beta testers. Just think of the number of man-hours lost * the number of users recovering from this mess.

  • Let me rephrase that: "We are so incompetent that there is a chance - meaning that we are not entirely sure of that... we cannot reproduce it but it can happen... we say it in that way simply because

It seems so. And they provided a fairly detailed explanation, which I think is fair, considering how many people were affected by this mess.

This is why I always purchase purchase from Steam. In any case, I'm glad they quickly informed us of the issue when it first became apparent, and that they took the time to properly assess what happened to update us now. Ok so........SU2 Beta when????

Too little too late for me. Why did my SIM download the 8gb update Four times??? It is so unstable now after this debacle that it CTD every flight after about 5 minutes.  Absolute joke I'm afraid.

I exited the beta and restarted, following the guidance as they've issued, but before the late explanation, thanks to users here.  It didn't work though, and I had to download the 8gb update four times...  This is beyond messed up after the balls up of the release.  Btw, the content servers in the UK are still extremely slow at times, requiring a VPN connection usually to the states, to get quick downloads.  MS needs to get a grip because the management of this appears so sloppy it's unbelievable.

I still find using the terminology "flighting" to be incredibly redundant, especially when dealing with a Flight Simulation😄just call it a Beta and be done with it!

Same here. Stayed away from it this weekend and seeing the "fix", thought I would give it a try. I left the beta, restarted and it keeps downloading the same package over and over.  May be in a few days I will try again.

I don’t disagree with that. It was just pure luck that I wasn’t affected by this myself.

I was thinking the exact same thing when I read the statement. It’s such a weird term 🤷🏻‍♂️

Microsoft uses that term for all their products

I just hope this latest mess doesn't delay SU2 Beta too much longer and yes I'm willing to "risk it all" and join the beta just to have those simple VR annoyances fixed, so that I may finally be able to enjoy this Early Access Software 🙃

What sort of evidence are you looking for? This is precisely what I was trying to report a few posts above. Perhaps we need a precise definition of not being in the Beta, but I can confirm that leaving the Beta this morning using the Insider Hub, restarting the computer, checking Insider Hub again to ensure that MSFS 2024 was actually NOT in the Beta, still resulted in the phantom download, mass resetting of options, etc. Not the end of the world as we know it, but kind of annoying.

Cheers.

Sounds like the update was already queued

What I meant is that it isn’t effecting people who weren’t in the beta before the update was pushed

I don’t agree, because I know what the term means.
