Live by the beta! Die by the beta!

Btw, I just finished an uneventful flight from Bordeaux (default scenery) to EDDN (Nürnberg, using Fred's Airports, which are compatible with MSFS 2024 and are very affordable). I used the Pilatus PC-24, which is quite flyable, if you ignore the autothrottle and watch your speeds.

Before that, I went on a short ride on my mountain bike, enjoying the early spring sunshine.

I don't get bent out of shape by these small hiccups. Reading this thread, you would think Asobo stole people's kidneys.😆

  • Yep I just did this.  Exited the beta, waited for it to say Join again, then rebooted PC. Wiped LOL! It's way beyond a laughing matter.  I've been one of the few to defend this sim but what

Kind of funny seeing a highly successful gaming company totally screw their helpful/unpaid beta testers. Just think of the number of man-hours lost * the number of users recovering from this mess.

  • Let me rephrase that: "We are so incompetent that there is a chance - meaning that we are not entirely sure of that... we cannot reproduce it but it can happen... we say it in that way simply because

just like yourself. we understand  you think they are clueless amateurs, all legally blondes.

if it was all that simple, I bet they would have done something about it already. it was something to prepare for SU2 beta, that's all we know. perhaps they thought: the users here are dying for SU 2, and their initial test produced no errors. reminds me of the memoirs of a ferry pilot titled "what could possibly go wrong!" . perhaps some external admin left for the weekend because it was already unusually late for a beta upload. and after the admin left, some unsuspecting server malfunctioned. all pure speculation on my side. why they haven't communicated this bug better, that is the $ 1.000.000 question.

your attitude reminds me of amateur self proclaimed NTSB analysts on youtube who have never piloted an airplane for even one hour despite their 10.000 hours of game experience logbooks, who, after an airplane crash know already a few hours after the crash how stupid and incompetent those highly trained pilots were and how all that could have been avoided. You'll rarely find real airline captains coming to such quick unfounded assumptions though. they will usually wait, even if only for a preliminary NTSB report. or until at least the flight/voice recorder was found.

Sadly fuel flow is very wrong in the PC-24. But I still like to fly it and hope that they improve autothrottle and range soon.

Ahhh well if we’re getting personal, your attitude reminds me of sycophancy / obsequiousness 🙂

Not sure why you can’t just admit Asobo messed up, rather than, I repeat again, defending the indefensible.

Ps this is just a game. I personally couldn’t care less if it’s out of action all week, I have other hobbies. However, that doesn’t make it any less of a big mess Asobo have caused.

how many years have you spent in high-level server cloud managememt? I have zero. Only a few years of pc programming in Assembler. enough to know how complicated it can be to forsee each and every possible bug, complex as simultaneous multi-game chess playing.

there was a JUMP instruction named:GOTO

a college of mine jokingly once said when we couldn't explain where some unexpected results came from:

"we need a new instruction: COME FROM 🤣"

"Not sure why you can’t just admit Asobo messed up"

nobody is questioning the problem, but I will wait with my accusations until  the defendant has spoken. you and anybody else here knows absolutely nothing about the background yet. I am sure we will find out in the next dev stream, at the latest.

There is enough information from the last 5 years to draw some accurate conclusions.

THIS!! 'To a certain extent'. But deleting the data of millions of users ... well ... SMH.

BTW - I'm missing 'certain' people 😄 in this thread, defending Asobo and blaming the users.

About 30 thousand people opted into the beta and steam users are unaffected but thank you for your post.

5800X3D. 32 GB RAM. 1TB SATA SSD. 3TB HDD. RX  9070XT.

It's good we have such a huge reaction here, although I would gladly skip having to read some of the posts loaded with negativity, useless negativity.

It's probably because MSFS has such a HUGE user base compared to other platforms, and get's updated at a rate that we can't find in other platforms, and brings in the nowadays huge majority of flight simulator users, otherwise it would probably get unnoticed...

Again, those who (like me) opted for beta were supposed to know what could result from it. It's probably the first time since FS 2020 was released that such an unintended update was issued / got out of control. Hey! MSFS was initially released during the Pandemic, and we're now in 2025 and going, with FS 2024 growing in stability, support and quality.

I'm a big Xp12 fan, yes I am, but I am as well someone who can recognize what MS and specially ASOBO have done for Civil Flight Simulation, and I find it rather unfair to read some posts 😕

Not sure why people are defending Asobo with this fiasco. I mean if it were a one off, sure. But it’s not. It’s just mess after mess.

There’s a vocal minority here who feel Asobo can do no wrong. But their ranks are dropping with each cluster @#$&.

Because they basically wrote in the disclaimer of the Beta that exactly such things can happen? People using the betas to get early access to the SU must expect such things to a certain extent.

I guess they can write in any level of incompetence and that makes it okay, but the vast majority of users aren’t buying that argument.

The usual apologists are notably absent. Hard to defend the indefensible but i am sure they will try lol.

Because - for the umpteenth time - this update also affected users who were NOT in the Beta, so therefore a vast majority of users are not buying the "...you were warned about entering a beta..." argument, by vast majority I mean the 800+ posts on the official forum (250+ here...remember AVSim is not the center of the MSFS world!) where practically everyone is in agreement that this update was a major balls up and the subsequent silence only adds insult to the injury.

4 years 6 months on since MSFS2020 was released, yet they still make monumental mistakes time & time again, I call into question the state of the management at Asobo & Microsoft to continually allow these episodes to happen.  Simply the question to be asked is How and Why?

Doesn't MSFS has millions of users? I know, I have exaggerated a little for dramaturgical reasons 😄.

I think they have big internal problems in their team.

Missing the PMDG DC6 in MSFS 2024 (she's here, but...).
