If your monitor is 60Hz and you limit frames to 30, FG on, you will have 60 frames with no tearing. If your monitor is faster than 60hz in this example, and your monitor does not have any VRR (gsync or FreeSync), VSync should be On (at max refresh rate). There are some theories that even if VRR is supported, vsync should be on also.

V-Sync should be enabled even with VRR for the best experience.

For example, the lowest input lag is achieved via G-Sync + V-Sync + frame rate limit in the NV Control Panel to about 4-5 fps below your monitor's refresh rate. Or instead of the frame rate limit just use Reflex, which will limit the FPS appropriately for you, though Reflex has issues in certain games.

  • He calls that a find? It has always been this way. Limit your frames to half your monitor's refresh rate and let FG take care of bringing it up to it back again. Where is the find?

  • And he also has dynamic settings enabled, as we can clearly see in the video, which makes me think he doesn't have a clue what he is doing.

I am on a 65" lcd with VRR on Vsync is off dont need for it. The lcd refresh is 120hz and cfg set to 30. All I know is using the Fenix which has been hit or miss for me, the FR are pegged at 60. NEVER NEVER got anywhere near this before. Plus as I mentioned earlier Active Sky running in a Tstorm was mind blowing. The sim for me was a waste of money until yesterday. See below. Anecdotal from my side 😉

Okay here we are with internal limit set to 50 native as that is my default state now with no FG.  Here is a 46 min frame capture in the Asobo 787X which is currently the most demanding plane I have in 2024.  After I land I will do a repeat using my default, proven best frame limiter which actually happens after all rendering is done by CPU/GPU and I believe that is why it tested out as best possible when I did rigorous comparisons with other lock methods available in late 22.  I started this capture about 200' before getting on to Rwy 34L at KDEN a bit ago.  This looks great, is super smooth, but that is already what I experience such that only a capture like this will manifest any differences here.  For some reason turning on Nvidia FG doesn't work with this internal frame limit set at 30FPS.  So do I maybe need to enable v-sync and set at 60Hz then FG will work?  I would love to see evidence of reduction in artifacts w/ FG.

And here is the same exact flight including time of day, however cut short the capture from 46 to 41 this time with RTSS Front Edge Sync, my go-to lock method.  They're very similar however RTSS has one distinct advantage for me:  one can adjust the frame lock literally on the fly AND unlock it as well to see what your max native rate would be, and again there is no subjective difference here between methods of frame lock using only native FPS:

That FOV would drive me nuts, is that how you fly or just for a quick picture??

Correct, but NOT in game. Globally via the NVidia control panel.

nvidia app or control panel? Which---- on, fast, adaptive, etc?

Control panel, and just vsync = on.

So why some have FG working with this in the config and some do not?

so how do you get frame generation working with 3080's, is this something new they recently changed or is it a 3rd party mod thing?

...and are we talking about fs2020 or 2024?

2024 and yes they introduced AMD FG stock to the beta. You just select it.

Does AMD FG work with NV GPU?  I think you are saying that.  NV FG did not work for me using the internal limiter.

I see many YouTube videos with a FOV like this - rotate speed looks to be around 500kts!  It would drive me completely mad.

Monitor AOC AGON AG352UCG UltraWide G-Sync @ 3440x1440

I dont use the limiter just he cfg edit for frames to 30 and yes it works on NV.

It was that wide for the screenshot but I like the FOV wider than normal for the sense of acceleration. Zoom in to me feels like you are moving at 20knots
