The hotfix worked very well for MSFS 2024 with my MSI 5080, but unfortunately it still causes Monster Hunter Wilds to crash, so I rolled back to a driver a couple of months ago and no issues.  Yes, annoying.

Tomorrow I should receive my 5090. :) Hoping no issues and unsure which driver I'll install. Admittedly kinda nervous about it.

I will roll back to that one today and keep it, there is no need to update drivers if they work for your needs.

I guess that I've been fortunate. I've just kept up-to-date for years and have not had any issues.

Me too.  I ALWAYS upgrade my drivers (many years now) when new ones are available, and I rarely revert back to the previous one that worked well.  You can always do that of course, so why not just try the new ones...test them.

I've also ALWAYS hated when someone says, "If it ain't broke, don't break it!".  If we followed that philosophy, we'd still be using a horse and buggy.  I think it was Bill Gates who said, "If it ain't broke, BREAK IT!"  That's truly the only way that PROGRESS really happens, isn't it?

Stan

I take it all you guys on the older drivers aren't interested in the performance gains of DLSS4 available in the newer drivers?

I like to trick airline passengers into thinking I have my own swimming pool in my back yard by painting a large blue rectangle on my patio.

566.36, best drivers I've found for my 4090 cards.

I've been watching the Nvidia feedback threads on their forum and all the drivers since 50 series launch have been hot garbage.  The release that needed two hotfixes so far had two weeks worth of comments on it (based on previous release discussions) in just 24 hours!  I was one that normally used to update to every new driver without thinking, but just last year I had an issue also around this time of year with a driver that was causing screens to go black and force a hard restart of the system to fix.  DDU and reinstall older driver was the only fix and was also well documented on their feedback threads.  If Nvidia can't fix their driver issues it might be time to go team red after 15+ years of using Nvidia.  Their big selling point was good drivers on top of usually better hardware, but if the drivers are junk then so is the hardware if you can't use it properly.  Now I screen every new driver's feedback thread for obvious issues that aren't just related to someone with a weird use case or not knowing what they're doing before trying them.
