DRM is not the problem. The problem is the idea of downloading and installing 10GB files. That's so 10 years ago.

With today's MSFS v2024, there's no reason to download anything. We buy and stream. The truth is, we don't own any of this software. We are just licensed users, or whatever they want to call it.

Last night I bought the PMDG 737-700 upgrade and it was such a PITA to install. But it was only $30, so I just did it!

As for ORBX, I still have their AU DVD that I paid $99 for just one region. I was a customer for long time.

I don't stream anything, not one bit or byte. I like downloading and installing them and I have more than plenty of SSD space.

One thing they can do is just release it on marketplace. I hate marketplace but getting sceneries from there isn’t the WORST in the world. They’ll have their precious encryption without the need to lo

They just lost me forever. Orbx can now go pound sand. I would have paid $100 for this but now they’ve lost me as a customer.

Well you are still living in the past and that's ok. I prefer to stream as much as possible.

Living in the past? Is pulling data from an SSD faster than pulling it from sometimes unreliable internet and servers?

Different strokes for different folks my friend.

Don’t be a Luddite Jack. No worries with streaming. None. Never. Until your once reliable internet connection goes south for 7 days, then NO SIM FOR YOU! YMMV. TANSTAAFL. Blue skies Jack and btw the Luddite handle was sarcasm. You’re no Luddite as is evident by your frequent presence here😇😇😇

I have news for you my friend, MSFS v2024 is a streaming sim.

Do some research on how much SSD space it's going to take for you to download the entire sim world.

All in fun!

Looks like it will be made available on the Marketplace in a few weeks.

Is Orbx's DRM removed in the marketplace version?

I have plenty of space and yes I know the sim itself streams.

😅 If that happens me and AT&T are going to part ways. I actually like being a Luddite. I have absolutely zero social media accounts unless AVSIM is considered social media.

Yes. Marketplace version will use it's own drm which is the MP encryption, not the Orbx one.

Piracy sucks. It sucks for the developers, it sucks for the customers.

Piracy is not a lost sale because pirates have no intention of purchasing the product in the first place.

Ultimately all this does is add hurdles to paying customers. It's not going to increase sales because pirates aren't going to suddenly buy the product.

In the end this'll get cracked and you'll have pirates with a better experience than paying customers just like we've seen countless times with Denuvo and many other DRM implementations.

That is part of my concern. The web page indicates it is not their DRM and you have to contact Land3 Simulations for drm issues. So now you have Orbx to buy and install. The developer to contact if there is a problem, unless it is a drm issue contact Land3.

Just an FYI for potential MP customers

The best part of streaming is that software updates just happen as with the recent Phenom update.

Some of us prefer to install our stuff rather than stream it. I have no problem installing 10GB files to my M2 Nvme drives. I do have a problem when developers make it unnecessarily awkward to install and activate them.
