MSFS 2024 Live Ship Traffic is a Disappointment

You have to recognize when some people just have an agenda. That comparison to politicians was just ridiculous.

You have to recognise that a difference of opinion does not equate to an agenda.

You also have to recognise when people are blinded.

You also have to recognise that whenever people talk about things and then actions do not follow, they are comparable to politicians. If you disagree with that opinion, it does not necessarily mean there is an agenda.

On the bright side, FS2024 has achieved the level of detail shown in the FSX DX10 promotional screenshot from 2006 🙂

  • if you used Little Navmap, you would see that MSFS2024 often feeds hundreds of ships on lakes and rivers into the simulation, but because of the LOD problems you often can't see any of them. you would

Let me break this down, and before I do so, let me also be absolutely crystal clear about one thing.  The current situation IMHO is not OK.  I am not seeking to defend or excuse it, I have no reason o

Well, as usual when I see reports/threads like this, I got curious and flew off to Vancouver to see if I could (in this case) find sum ships.

Interestingly enough, I think I found lots of them. I never fly in Canada but the PG seems great and the area quite pretty. Think I'll explore the area!

In the meantime, I wonder if the OP has the latest version of Gaist, and has the proper settings.

How do you get your distant terrain looking so nice and defined?

Mine looks like mush with LOD on 200.

We were told most 2020 add-ons would work with 2024 - and some would have taken that on face value and purchased 2024 thinking they would not have to pay out more hard earned cash on 3rd party upgrades for existing products - did you think that would be the case?

re 3rd party Devs, it maybe frustrating for them having to spend time with the LOD changes and everything else to make their products compatible, but it gives them the opportunity to re-sell those products for ££££

it is what it is

Strictly speaking, virtually all 2020 add-ons DO work in 2024, in that they are compatible with the simulator and don't result in a CTD.

What I think a lot of people took away was that 2020 add-ons would work exactly the same as in 2020, which wasn't what was promised.

Which brings us to some dark arts of psychology and human understandings.  People believe what they want to be true, or what they fear to be true, even sometimes in the face of overwhelming evidence to the contrary.  Asobo didn't promise that everything legacy would work perfectly and as it did in 2020, but people believed it because they wanted to.

I've been fortunate to work with a number of developers who invested significant time and effort to ensure that their aircraft products do work 100% in 2024 as in 2020, and I know the effort it took to make that happen.

With hindsight Asobo should probably have applied the caveat to their statement, that 2020 add-ons could work in 2024 provided their developers make them do so.

We just need to accept, as you have done so above, that it is what it is, and we may need to pay upgrade fees to sort some of these legacy issues, or live with some issues if developers are not prepared to update products.

Kevin Firth - AMD 9800X3D; Asus Prime X670E; 64Gb Cas30 6000 DDR5; RTX5090; AutoFPS

Did a quick IFR flight with the A320 v2 from EGLL to LFPG with AutoFPS, didn't spot any contrail.

All OK in cruise with TLOD 400 but even with TLOD down to 50 I had stutters on approach and after landing. VRAM 70% on approach and 78-82% on the ground.

All this with SU2 current version, vanilla, fresh install.

That's a bit over my head.  I've got DLSS swapper and I'm using "310.1.0"

I'll do a search for what preset K means!

v310.03 Is the latest, and there is also an updated DLSS swapper that allows you to activate the desired presets.

Say what you want, it is an absolutely stupid comparison.

Thanks.  I was using an outdated swapper.  The new one looks very simple to use, including the presets.  Thanks!
