MSFS is it’s own worst enemy

Not sure the exact results the OP was wanting with all this.

All of my scenery from 2020 works in 2024. Most of my planes also work. FReborn 500 and fenix were compatible immediately. Black square planes, just flight planes worked soon after. PMDG not sure.

So, again...not sure what the point of these posts are. Most of the stuff fro  2020 works in 2024. Textures, ground textures, clouds, lighting, performance and supposedly physics are better.

The only I wished worked were the training FSacademy tutorials, pmdg planes and rex atmos as the lightning could use a smidge more work(reshade working so far).

XP12 is great and there's nothing wrong with it: its a flight simulator and has some of the best addons available. It does exactly what its supposed to. There are differences between various simulators and differences between their various iterations (2020 vs 2024, xp11 vs 12, p3d etc).

Its pointless. They're all good in their own way. Granted, I'm biased towards 2024 because I have a ridiculous amount of planes and scenery since aug 2020.

So, your main gripe is really that you don't have the money to properly migrate to a more capable sim platform with all the add-ons you want? I can empathise with that, been there in the past.  B

  • Never looked back? Then you might be lost if you are reading/posting in this MSFS forum. Let me help you guide you to where you probably prefer to hang out Link

  • I just want people to be aware that there are other excellent simulators out there.... especially for the OP.... maybe he's happy using FSX or P3D...  But 2020 is great, same with 2024, and also same

Seems like a bunch of XP promotion going on these days in the MSFS forum, what gives? If I want to hear about XP I know what forum to visit.

Thank you for that info. Did you have to manually convert or install it to get it to work?

No, you should be able to just activate it in your content

As a MSFS2020 user I am now stuck in an upgrade ‘no man’s land” and it’s now at the point where I won’t/can’t spend any money on the hobby - which is counter to what the developers want.

have purchased aircraft and scenery for 2020 some of which I’m not sure can be updated for 2024, so I’m staying with 2020 for now.

But because I know that 2024 is the sim that will now be the main focus, there is no way I will invest anymore into 2020.

In a similar way, when I am forced onto 2024, I will either be so late into the sim that it will be pointless buying addons or there will be talk of an even newer version.

I know new versions come out all the time, but investing in flight sims is different because of the number of addons and investment made. so sadly I’m now stuck where my money won’t be going into the hobby I enjoy.

That's funny, I'm still on MSFS2020 (I called it #Legacysim) and am still spending money on addons.  Why?  I'm not moving to the new sim anytime soon (new sim rig parts being purchased and I refuse to sell a kidney to get a new GPU).

I'm still getting plenty of value out of 2020 and honestly don't see that I'm missing out on anything with the new sim.  You do you though.  😉

PS You don't need a new GPU for MSFS2024 😉

Most Important things for MS 2024 is

1. Internet

2. CPU with memory cache

3. GPU with at least 16 gigs

4. System with at least 32 gigs or ram. Yes Microsoft allocates usage of Ram and Vram to run their software on boot up.

Tongue in cheek though. Also both p3d and xp forums regularly get Asobobos dropping in to ask "did you know for just one buck a month...?" etc. 😉

Providing alternatives is also valid as long as not inflammatory. Thread WAS started due to financial issues...

"omg I can't decide whether to give my 5yo Android or iPhone.. Both so expensive!!"

Hmmm....... You could always try a flip phone? Cheap, reliable, no online garbage and won't update itself every few weeks making some buttons not work 😁

Well that is not my problem but if its your take a jab at it. I stay in the MSFS forum do  not bother (out of bounds) with any other and if that is a problem with them (YOU) its on them not me.

Edit: people love to criticize MSFS but they keep moving on and we need to catch up.

Anyway, the OP should now know that -

a. you don't need to buy a new system to run MSFS2024 well and -

b. the vast majority of (100% in my case) 2020 addons run perfectly well in 2024 and for free. Sounds like the jury is still out on the PMDG 737?

I'm not sure we'll ever know if he was in any way convinced as he has disappeared, along with quite a few posts in this thread. But if he decides to stay with 2020, we wish him well.

It's not my problem either, I was just pointing out that the pendulum swings both ways :D

You probably do if you have a GTX 980Ti like me.

Or an RTX 3060Ti like me. I never knew, or needed to know, my VRAM usage in MSFS 2020. It just worked.

Are you trying to run 2024 with the same settings as 2020?
