Black square Bonanza and Baron soon!

Vi a alguien en otro foro diciendo que la calidad de Black Square ahora supera a A2A.

Comentemos… 😅

For me, A2A's strength continues to be the flight model, despite those annoying jolts that the aircraft give from time to time and which they have not managed to correct. The damage and maintenance models, etc. are very good, but in the end, flying is still the most important thing, and that's where I think A2A is in a league of its own in MFS.

...  My passengers and I got a bit chilly on the flight as my heater no longer seems to function.  Checked failures and nothing was reported as broken, so not sure what's going on there.

Checked again this morning and the furnace lit off and immediately started warming the cabin when I tested.  Some weird one-time glitch I guess.

And once again, a note of appreciation for attention to detail in the amazing sound set.  Turn on the furnace and you hear the click of the switch, followed by the rapid clicking sound from the ignitor and the roaring sound as the fuel ignites.  Just wonderful.

I think after these planes I'll be done with 2020 paints.  It's way too much work.  Everyone flying GA should really be on 2024 by now as it's vastly superior for that style of flying.

At any rate, this is one of my favorite paints I've done so far (and yes, it's blue LOL).  I'm just waiting for Tim to check it out when he has time it and then hopefully I can upload it sometime this weekend.

The blue is really cool... it color changes depending on time of day

The 2020 paints are really appreciated! 👍💯

The rest of us will come around at some point to 2024.

Can you elaborate with specific detail?

I'm not going to presume to tell anyone else what to do, but for me 2024 is best for my GA flying usually at 2,500 to 4,500 feet - scenery detail, clouds/mist etc is noticeably better than 2020. Performance is great (40 to 60+ fps), without any frame generation on 3440x1440 ultrawide, on ultra settings. Currently doing a tour of all US and Canadian states in my Black Square fleet 🙂 (can't wait to get Ryan's latest paintwork gem for the Baron!)

There are some valid concerns in moving to 2024, although I found none of them really applied to me, but I completely understand someone staying in 2020 . But that said I agree that 2024 has offered the very best simulation experience for GA aircraft in a non-VR set up. I also fly on high and ultra settings without frame generation in 4K and have exquisite detail. I have not flown 2020 for a long time now but from what I remember the ground detail and textures and the sky and weather-scape are head and shoulders better than 2020. Ground handling still has its issues but it is better than 2020. The walk around modes and exterior interactions help with realism -- I really love that Black Square now enables us to walk up the right wing and open the door! For me who flies primarily GA 2024 is a much better product visually and performs much better than 2020.

For GA?  Most of my flying is under 10k feet.

So off the top of my head...

-Excellent representation of seasons

-Vastly better lighting especially near sunrise/sunset

-Much more realistic trees, shrubs, rocks, AI generated stuff like corn fields, hay bales in season

-Fauna that moves realistically, randomly generated (I've seen deer, bear in the back country)

-Better water effects, splashes etc on takeoff/landing in seaplanes, rocks and small pebbles using tessellation

-Higher resolution of general textures at airports , taxiways, ramps, runways

-Tires/skis leave depressions in the sand/dirt/grass

-Airport beacons actually work in 2024... could never seem then in 20 unless you first departed and flew nearby another airport, then returned to that airport.

-More realistic tire physics and ground handling/crosswinds/wake turbulence/wind from mountains (this data is from developer streams with video - but I've noticed a good improvement)

-More realistic electrical systems by default

-Dirt and grime accumulation (imo it's a bit overdone by default but some devs offer a way to clean your plane which is pretty realistic)

There's quite a few more things available to native 2024 aircraft, but very few aircraft have been released which utilize this tech.  From a livery standpoint, the newer textures allow for amazing features in glass, paint chip like orange peel for metallic paint/flakes

I've posted many screenshots over the last year that show most of the visual changes.  It's hard to showcase the under the hood stuff though.

My real world experience is single engine pistons, and of course anything I've witnessed in over 15 years of tower operations, watching the skies/weather and the pilots landing/taking off, fauna on the field (and runways eek!)

Ryan,

Thanks for the valuable input.

I guess you were a tower guy (I was too) before ZMP?

Ever had a moose get on the runway?  Or deer?

No mice lol...  but yes deer all the time when I was in Duluth.  They'd jump the fences with ease (tall fences lol)

I used to get camels at Ayers Rock . They would just crash through the tall boundary fences when chased off the field !

Yeah interesting!  Wildlife and airplanes don't mix haha!

Then you go to major GA airports like yesterday landing at LECU in Spain and you see those trees with Martian Minecraft-style shapes in 2024 and you wonder if we all have the same simulator. 🤣
